LOL. A Gloria Jeans shop at Rozelle, slap bang in the middle of the coffee shop strip, lasted less than 6 months.

Starbucks and Gloria Jeans hire people who can't make coffee.

If you want coffee that tastes like dishwater, nothing beats 'Bucks or 'Jeans.

Smaller cafes run by people who know how to make things other than a latte are much nicer. They know how to do a real coffee...or a hot chocolate.

yeah I like the Cibo at the airport too. I always head there when flying out. I once had a coffee at Hudson's and found they either had the coffee at volcanic temperatures or hardly any coffee in it and mainly milk.

Cibo also have an excellent cake selection too. :

I usually won't go near Starbucks, but actually had some at the original Starbucks in Pike Place (Seattle) and it was actually very good, I was surprised!

Usually I'm a Cibo person too (yes in Brisbane), or La Dolce Vita, or Naked Coffee, or Campos...

Agree with comments re crap coffee from Gloria Jeans and Starbucks. Bitter dishwater at that.

Around the corner from my local Gloria Jeans is a little cafe called 'Fix' which makes the smoothest, tastiest coffee. Maybe not for those who like strong 'hair on your chest' type of coffee, but its so tasty!! They use 'Mokador' brand 'Florita' blend. YUMMO!

Anyone in Brisvegas do yourself a favour and have a Cibo's coffee (if you like good coffee) you want look back they have been in Adelaide since the mid 90's. I just jumped on there website after reading this thread and noticed they have there stores in Brissy at West End, Chermside and Merthyr Village. I dont work for them at all but have there coffee daily as there not to far from where I work and also pretty close to home. I love my coffee and there's hit the spot I promise.
The best why to describe it is like comparing Farmers Union Iced Coffee to the others nothing else stacks up.

I like the coffee from Gloria Jean, especially the cool blended ice coffees on a hot day.
Starbucks i only tried overseas, it was quite good too.

I've tried lots of coffee, even bought premium beans with the mortar and pestle.

I tried the Gloria Jeans Coffee beans and they were amongst the best I've had, very creamy.

I made it myself using their beans, I actually haven't had any of the coffee's they make.

There is one in the Caltex car park on Springvale Road in Glen Waverley...

I feel genuinely sorry for them...

Starbucks is like a Ford Dealer. On the whole it's pretty average, but you're guaranteed a minimum quality.

Some coffee shops get it right, others just serve muck. I love my coffee so I buy my beans direct from the place they do the roasting. I buy the strongest and darkest roast they have and grind it with my awesome grinder every morning (just takes 5 seconds).

My coffee's the best. It's like Pulp Fiction, but heaps of people think it's way too strong and start going crazy with the milk and sugar, fair enough.

I'm much better off paying more for coffee than pay $3+ for an inferior cup anyday. If I really need a caffeine fix during the day I'll usually go a soft drink or possibly a Latte from a smaller coffee shop.

Starbucks and the like are only good for their iced drinks, which are a rip off at $6 each anyway.

Firstly Cibo's ftw!

AS far as Starbucks goes, sourbastards description is the best way to describe the "coffee" they serve.

It is a pity about the job losses however..
