gday, new to this type of thing, just wondering if anyone else out there competes in any type of motor sport in an escort, i supersprint a mk2 eski in nsw and would like to swap ideas with anyone else interested. thanx

I use my RS in hillclimbs and regularity. Occasionally I do some autokhana. It is road registered and driven to every event. It has worked out to be a decent little hillclimber. It handles nicely and has a nice kick off the line. I am building an Anglia now to compete in, but will look at using the RS a bit more later this year.

i am trying to build a mk1 club car. mines got a 1600 improved prodcution roll cage. yeah.

i wasn't sure what i was after to start with, i just wanted to get into a bit of grass roots type motor sport (hillclimbs, supersprints, etc). I actually would have loved either a mk1 escort or a mk1 cortina, but the mk2 eski came up at the right money and it was a 2 door so away we went. Having never driven one before i was amazed at the way it performed /handled /stopped! Have slowly been developing it as funds allow & its progressing nicely. Warm 2ltr, twin45's, dyno'd this week by a guy here who's a whiz with webers & he has got 110 H/P @ the wheels. found a brand new set of KONI adjustables on ebay so am looking forward to it's next outing at Wakefield Park next month...

i am 16, only really earning about 50 bucks a week, my car is mega budget car. I managed to pick up twin carbs for really cheap, i mildly porting the head, got cheap pistons, cheap roll cage, total spec of engine is

1600 crossflow
bored 40 thou to 1630cc
decked 40 thou
1300 pistons
head skimmed
flow tested
fully rebuilt head (standard valves)
new bearings rings
new waterpump
dunno about suspnsion (might try and get some adjustable control arms if possible)

hoping for 100hp at the flywheel and hopefully 75 at the wheels

are you racing your mk2 at the moment??? or just starting off??

Hi all, we are building a 2 door, mark 2 targa/tarmac touring race car. Nothing overly flash, full cage, sparce interior, minilte wheels, 2 litre twin webers, etc etc. Building to a budget initially but upgrades over time to suspension and performance and so on. WIll post pics as we go....Interested to hear feedback from others as to what performance mods to engines etc.

sorry fpv escort didnt answer your question last post, i have only just started competing in mine and mate im hooked! i try and do one meeting a month (only started supersprinting this year) have also done a hillclimb, khanacross, and a motorkhana (boring! lots of witches hats in a carpark). Khanacross is fun, sort of short circuit rallying, but very hard on the car. you really need a dedicated car to do these! Supersprints are great fun & probably the closest thing to full blooded circuit racing on a basic cams license in a car you can also drive to and from the track (although i trailer mine). Usually 1/2 or 1 full warm up lap and 3,4 or 5 @ full noise against the clock, although they send up to a dozen cars at a time out in pairs, you're not really supposed to race although it's inevitable when you bear down on a slower car or them on you. you are old enough to compete, get your cams license and give it a go mate! just join a car club thats affiliated with cams and they will get you involved and help you to sort out your cams license. in a supersprint you are competing with other people running similar times as you and as you get quicker you just line up with the faster guys!

yes club days would be the way to go, its just getting all the money together first and also trying to get the car built.

would love to race asap but yeah got to get the car together
