Default LS Audio

Hey guys this morning when i went out to my car i noticed that my stereo has decided to break, checked the fuse and its all ok so i guess i need to get a new stereo.

Im a fan of the stock look but im not a fan of buying a new stereo from ford because im sure they will charge me heaps!

Im thinking about getting an aftermarket unit however im not sure which adapter im going to need, yesss i've done a search on the forums and been through the old posts but there are so many of them and also lots of dead ebay links so i was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what i should get?

If i do go with an aftermarket one i will need a wire adapter like here:
http://www.fordforums.com.au/showpos...8&postcount=44

Is this the same that you guys can tell?

Also in general anyone have any ideas on good units to buy without spending $50000

I did even think maybe getting the xr5 unit if thats possible?

Looks great, however also looks a wee bit narrow? I reckon you will need a filler piece.

Can you email the website and ask them if they have any pics or references to euro/aus focii?

G'day DragonMesh. Mate here is a dedicated double din fascia for aftermarket stereos.

So you dont need the insert. Doesnt work out too bad cost wise.

Cheers for the replies guys! yea i like the look of that fascia but do you think it will be the same colour as the standard one it looks a little dark?

I tried plugging the stereo back in today and now its sprung back into life so now i just have to check if its the cable thats dodgy or if its the stereo... hopefully its the stereo so then i can buy this new one

Hey check the looms that plug into the bottom of the fuse tray.
the loom connectors can come out if they are knocked, School bags!!!!
But with that you would ahve lost things like outside temp on the dash, engine temp guage.

If going aftermarket, wouldn't you be looking for this:

http://www.nexxia.co.uk/product.asp?...leads&section=

Hope so, have one of these arriving in the next few days for my planned install

Grabbed the JVC patch a few weeks ago as well.

There's a full install thread here (not sure if you need to be a member to see this):
