Wow that's very cool!

I can see 2 things to comment on:
  1. Hide that cabel somehow? Even a 90° plug so the wire runs up the side would look a bit neater (this is regarding the LCD display).
  2. The camera is cool as is but, if it could be behind a tiny perspex window or something it would be better protected from weathering and stonechipping etc. Like a tiny one sided mirror glass panel where you've mounted the cam.
Just some constructive criticism ;) otherwise very very cool - I want one!

Oh, any idea of the pricetag?

I think its pretty cool. Does it automatically switch on when you select reverse?
If so, how do you wire up a system with a manual car? To the reverse lights?

Yes I had wired it up with reverse lights and put a tiny fuse in case of overload. It would be nice to hide it totally but I have yet to see a hidden car camera. It is really something I would like to se more of because people can see if their kids are behind their cars.

I agree the wire is a bit out there but that is the av input.I am not sure if I can get a 90 degree one but a trip to jaycar and some spaghetti cover should make it look better. I think these things would fetch around 770.It will be a health and safety product. It should break up the monotony for me from doing millions of mobile phone installations.

Alos Itried to paint it with touch up paint but made a mess ...so possibly off to a painter to get done.

It is very tough.Unfortunately there is not much more to do to it to protect it and without making it bulky.

Useless, that is brilliant. I can see me buying one for the Wagon for sure and one for the van when we get it!

That is a great idea. How much and when?

Thanks Shane. It is a bout time I did something a bit different. It would be awesome for vans and wagons.I think that it will perfectly compliment reverse sensors...so the next step is reverse sensor installation. I have a few in stock for now and more soon hopefully. The retail will be about 770 + installed

but I will be working out a good deal for fourm members as soon as I get the ball rolling for a sponsorship. They are pretty involved to install.I thought it would take me 2 hours ...ended up being 1/2 a day. So if people want supply only I should be able to arrange something.Especially for you mate!!

The bumper looks kinda bulky/lifted, and it seems to be touching the tailgate. Is this because of the camera?

Nope .A clip is missing from that spot .It copped a hit a few weeks ago and stayed with a lump... The bump is to the right of the camera ...Yep ive been a slacker.

The camera is really small.

Who would bother with reverse sensors when you could have a neat little reverse camera like that.

come on tell us the price useless.

I'll get the camera then the rain sensors for the wipers and light sensor for the automatic headlights and away we go.

i got a company that makes the pen sized cameras that shoot a image to ur rear vision mirror, u flick it to view image or back to use as mirror, or u can do split screen. the camera was small enough to put in the center of lic plate and not know its there. i was going to put on one my shoe for sema last year lol

Great idea. I had thought of doing a similar thing so i could see the baby aeat in the back. As I can't see the seat in the rear vision mirror so i can't see what bubs is up to.

I like the idea of the size camera you have .However I do not want to interfere with the reaer view mirror because people may blame reverse accidents on not being able to use the rear view mirror and open up lawsuits. But if you you have a tiny camera pm me.

Useless, just get a pinhole camera and put it behind the bumper, the one you've got not only looks ugly but I bet I can come up to it and unscrew the lense; LOL.
Surely you can do a better job than that coz' I know 99% of the forum readers wouldn't put it anywhere near their car.

JCXR8- You can buy a 5" LCD monitor for arond $250, but you should get a hi res. one as it does make a difference, more money but.

Are these pinhole cameras shockresistant and water proof like these? And what is there cost?

Also there are may bit n pieces that can be screwed off a car if you really want it.

Nice, can you get them in wide-angle lens?, fish eye lens they call it.

!!!! use the eye level brake lights inside the rear screen sedan & wagon.
you don't get much dirt on the rear screen of a sedan, the wagon has a wiper.

It is cool, but more for cool factor that usefullness IMO. I have a few comments/suggetions though.

I would be going with a pinhole camera, I have got 3 or 4 at work that we fit in the nose of our planes. They are cheap as.

That camera would be busted up pretty quick in that position if you used a trailer often.

What about something like a suction cap and right angle bracket that you could stick in the corner of the window. Maybe not as neat but would be easier to install and you wouldnt have to cut up the bodywork.
