Well there we are.
Friday night, I decided spur of the moment style I was going to change my cam. Later that night I had my spare xr6 engine apart with the cam in my hands : . Saturday morning I chucked her in my car. I have to say when I first swapped them over I was dissapointed at how it ran. It actually seemed slower, but the computer has not realised what I have done and so it would seem that theres a lot more power to come. As I've been drving over the weekend it has started to get a little more responsive & better idle as the computer adjusts. I just cant wait for the flash tuner to turn up this week, that should really open her up. All up the job took me about 8 hours, and for anyone that hasn't done it before, believe me it's not that big a job to do. I found the worst part was removing the power steering pump and putting it back on so that I could get to the chain tensioner. Anyway thats was my weekend, a bit dissapointing but seems to be improving now with every km :

XR6 Cam alone won't do much. The XR6 needed the head cam and ecu to get the extra power. You'll be waiting a long time for the computer to adjust to give you more power to so give up on that idea and get the flash tuner for sure. The ecu won't be doing any adjusting just cause you swapped the cam. It will only be going through its idle train and trims if you disconnected the battery. Now a flash tuner will get the best from this set up.
Good luck and let us know how it all goes with the tune |

My computer is only now realising that air fuel ratio should be 14:7, used half a tank of ultimate in 100km.

14:7? 14:1 is about right for a factory tune, and yes it takes the ecu a little while to adjust for a new high lift cam
