January, 1982, assembled at Eagle Farm, with a V8 engine. That's about the sum of it.

I don't think that specific model information or trim levels was included in the chassis number back then. I don't recall the Sportsman back in 1982, either. You can prove me wrong, though

In short - 63 = Fairlane Marquis/Sportsman. (JH/JG build). (ZH = Marquis & ZJ onwards = Sportsman).

All of the older LWB Ford codes
Fairlane/Galaxie/LTD
36 = Fairlane Custom. (JH/JG build). (dis-continued may 1976)
37 = Fairlane 500. (JH/JG build).
38 = Fairlane Custom Taxi. (JH/JG build).
39 = Fairlane 500 Taxi. (JH/JG build).
62 = Galaxie Sedan. (AK/JG build).
63 = Fairlane Marquis/Sportsman. (JH/JG build). (ZH = Marquis & ZJ onwards = Sportsman).
64 = Fairlane Ghia. (JH/JG build).
70 = Landau hardtop. (JG build).
71 = LTD. (JH/JG build).

Thanks for that! I've got a book full of chassis decode info on a heap of manufacturers, but it's stored in my locker at work... I don't think I've touched it in more than a decade (or two...).
