I'm gonna get my rocker cover colour changed soon and a mate suggested i get it done same colour as the car. Can someone do a photoshop pic for me so i can get an idea of what my rocker cover would look like black.

cheers!

You should try to source a new rocker cover (well, not new, but one from the wreckers), and get it painted/powder coated black - should cost no more than $120 all up (or thereabouts). You can then sell your red one to recoup some or all of the costs. It will be cheaper that way than having your cover sand blasted and then powder coated.

I got a rocker cover from FTG for $30 when I did mine, then it cost ~$25 to get powdercoated Sahara Blue at the place that does the FPV rocker covers for the GTs. If you're not in a hurry they just stick it on the end of the line which is partly why it's so cheap. It also depends on the look you're going for, powder coating gives a more matte finish than painting would do, if you're trying to match it to your car painting might be your best bet.

I even covered the cost of mine by getting the old one done the same finish once I'd swapped them over, and then selling it on ebay ;)

if they are painted do you need to use heat proof paint?

Lol is that a joke? Of course you do common sense says the engine and engine bay get very hot, and would melt anything other than heat proofed paint
I reckon mattp's on to a winner.... in short contact him for some details and do exactly what he did but in silhouette black it'd look great?!

I had mine powdercoated in Candy apple green with a Silver base coat under it ... cost a little more than what someplaces might charge as there was extra work in it ... it can up nice and shiny/glossy.

Got a spare rocker cover from the wreckers for like $20 ... and got it done ... took a bit of time as it was done in spare time.

It looked 100 times better than standard.

One of the last images of my uet (on carsales) ... kinda hard to see it in these pcs though .. but was a darn sight better than the darkr green EGAS rocker cover that was on there.
