I understand that politics is probably a no-no here in Ford country, but I have a couple of brief questions I'd like to sneak in... mods please delete if this is a forum breach.
1) How can Ted Cruz run for POTUS if he's not a "natural born US citizen"? He was born in Canada to a Cuban father, and his grandfather was Spanish. This was always an (irrelevant) stumbling block for Obama. Cruz held sole Canadian citizenship for 32 years until 2005. 2) Is the fact that Cruz is firmly anti-gay marriage, anti-abortion, rejects Obamacare, supports gun rights, favours increasing immigration five-fold, opposes legalising marijuana, favours the death penalty, opposes higher minimum wages, denies man-made global warming, and is a practicing Southern Baptist a concern which makes him a far worse candidate than Donald Trump?

Americans had to apologise for being American when bush was in, if by some silly reason trump gets in Americans will have to hide from the rest of the world.
Also the feel in the NYC is it will be Hillary |

Worst slate in history. I've always hated Hillary Clinton, but I'll vote for her over Trump or Cruz. It just makes me hate politics more than I always have.

Candidates always had to be US born to be eligible so don't know what's changed.
Cruzs stance is typical extreme right Republican |

I was having this conversation with my brother. I was arguing the Republicans that don't want their guy won't vote at all. My brother was saying they'd vote Hillary to prevent an unwanted Republican.

Trump ftw.
It's about time someone, who isn't a political robot governs where a country should go. It might seem that Trump is just an idiot, a man who stands up, rather than be told how things should be. Time for a change. We all live in interesting times. Time to make it more interesting. |

I don't mind if trump also came in, someone from out of nowhere like what marty says. To me if I were to vote there is nothing who seems worthy to vote in jeb bush etc who the **** would elect that dh in. Sure trump isn't perfect etc but there's no one that is a stand out. My old man wreckons he should get in because who knows what he will be like he says. It was like Regan back in the day he told me, everyone was scared he was going to start a nuclear war etc and he turned out to be one of the best presidents they had. Hell he was a movie star who turned to politics. So the question is how bad can trump be? He'd have my vote.

And the theorists begin.
Freedom of speech, political gain, respect. That's how it works. China is another matter, Trump is a businessman. |

I follow American politics and he is the only guy( yes including Hillary , she is a bloke isn't she..) with any integrity whether you agree with his position or not. The guy has done exactly what he Promised as a senator unlike Rubio ..no flip flopping . Trump is just an idiot who acts and talks like a schoolyard bully and Hillary is probably one of the most corrupt individuals to ever run. Sanders is a socialist Nut job..which appeals to give me everything for free brigade My opinion only..I'm not getting into any slanging matches.

The rise of Donald Trump can be in no small way attributed to the way the above falsehoods have been rammed down the throats of a silent majority... The proponents of your listed causes are more dangerous to a society than anything Cruz can do... Last edited by superyob; 06-03-2016 at 06:31 PM. |

Not at all, in fact he be pretty centralist in Australia.
I may not agree with all of them but on his past performance he seems very honourable. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politi...Bernie_Sanders

How about Hillary. Let see, her hubby is/was a convicted liar and abuser of womens rights. That is a fact. Hillary supported and covered up for him throughout Bill's decades of abuse, she has never said sorry to any of the women. But Hillary says it is a "great big right wing conspiracy". How about Hillary and her role in covering up a deadly terrorist attack in Benghazi. Nothing to look at right? Hillary and her unsecured server, countless highly classified documents sitting in plain sight on her server. Her server was hacked into by numerous foreign governments. Is she as bad as Eric Sowdon, actually she is worse? Hillary is a bitter, damaged and incompetent women. Much like someone we had in Australia. Bernie, easy to understand. Bernie is commie. All he wants to do is take money from "rich" people (who ever they are) and give it to poor people. Like all commies, his grasp of mathematics isn't good. There isn't enough "rich" money for all of his promises. Then there is Trump. The best description I can give about Trump, he is a clone of Alan Bond and Clive Palmer. Trump is in it just for Trump, the consequences of Trump being president will probably result in WW3 and his impeachment (which comes before the other is the only question). I'm guessing that Trump will be knocked out of the race sometime soon in the next 8 months—when the Americans hopefully come to their senses. The potential Trump versus China/Korea scenario would concern me somewhat—to say the least.

Of course it is important for Australia and for the world generally. If it were only of any consequence to the US then most of the world couldn't give a **** to be honest.
I can't believe Trump can publicly say that he will build a border fence and make Mexico pay for it. And there are idiots who believe it will happen. Even he knows it won't |

Its been interesting to say the least but the GOP have plenty of soul searching to do, I mean fancy having potentially a real anti establishment candidate representing a party that doesn't want him but the US voters seem to love him & his policies. Crazy stuff which will probably ensure the incumbents are there for another term Imo.

President Trump scares the bejesus out of me. The guy makes claims based on his mood, and he's recommended committing ****ing war crimes against civilians in the fight against terrorism.
But I see Clinton being the next president - only because Trump will win the Republican primary & is far too a polarising figure within the GOP ranks/voters. Clinton has the Democrat (super?)delegates all wrapped up, so no deal for Sanders. |

Hugely important to Australia and global financial markets. A loose cannon like trump having the nuke codes is a scary thought.
The truth is that in politics, you cant speak your mind, your words need to be carefully considered, and measured against the issues.
