We have 2 2016 Mondeo Diesel wagons.
Both have done this.
But we diagnosed faulty EGR valve which limits torque and hence runs the transmission in a limp mode.
Changed the EGR valve and never had the problem since.
We also had charging issues which we think was the same fault, coz thats now gone too.

Also did this in our Territory

Thanks Slim, ours has been fine for the last few months, tried to convince ford service about the EGR change and they didnt want to hear it.....
