Height adjustment in the headlights has been taken out

And also, not only have the indicator and wiper stalks been swapped, so has the cruise and stereo controls as well.

Other than that, materials feel as good a quality as the German built Focii, put together well and still quality product.

I'm not convinced on the 'series badge' being on them....I preferred just teh Focus badge, but that's just me.
Any pics?

Hey Entheos,

Thanks for the info.. Do you know if there'll be any chance to get a retro-fit console for the German made Trends?

I dare say the entire console (floor part right up to the dash) would have to be replaced as the console is moulded in.

yup those pics sum it up - It's a full change from the Euro's on the centre console, so no easy fix for me :(. Kinda used to not having an arm rest, but it would be nice.

To me it looks the same console as the euro sport and titanium except some of the trim colours have changed but i do not think it would be an easy conversion for trend as the handbrake is in a different position in the higher spec models

hi All,

so, i put a deposit on what i think is the the 2nd last german built candy red Titanium with the SEP.

i've been told (no idea how true this is) that the only difference is the where the signal controls are and the Ford Sync?

is seems that there are more differences that i've been lead to believe, but i can't seem to find a definitive list.

would be great if someone can point me to one. and possible make it a sticky?

The Focus Titanium MkII (Thai built) will be $750 more than the German built price, but will include these extra features,
SYNC hands-free connectivity system across the range, a standard rear-view camera in the Sport and Titanium, and the option of the Active City Stop collision-avoidance system.

More details here,

An easy way to tell the new Thai built Focus to a German build is the indicator stalk is now back on the right hand side where it should be and the wiper's on the left.

When i was shopping for my car, the salesman refered to the indicator/wiper set up as a 'European feature'. Like it's a fad. Yeah right!

I don't understand the upset with the indicators, its pretty simple, its on the left on euro cars, on the right in everything else.

You get used to it after 5 minutes.

Overload Semi-Automatic Parallel Parking With Active Park Assist
12:00 AM - May 31, 2012 by Anh T. Huynh

Ford offers Active Park Assist as a $695US option on its 2012 Ford Focuses, along with its larger vehicles. Active Park Assist is, as the name implies, a parking assistance system that helps the driver parallel park. You might think of it as a novelty if you can already parallel park well, but it's actually a cool feature that does work.

Cars equipped with Active Park Assist employ ultra-sonic sensors on the front and rear bumpers to help the system calculate available space. It requires very little driver input, aide from gas and brakes.

Simply, you push a button as you approach the parallel parking area, and the system figures out the rest. When a suitable spot is detected, Active Park Assist tells you to put the car in reverse or drive. Your job is to cautiously feather the gas and brake pedals, since the system only controls the steering wheel. Truly, if you crash while using this feature, it's your own fault.

apologies, but my query wasn't clear.

it was more along the lines of "are both fully automated? or has something between them changed"

That's probably right, you would get used to it, but still a nuisance all the same especially if you already have a normal car with the stalk on the right hand side..lol.
Going between the two would certainly cause some confusion.

Both should operate in the exact same manor, the only difference being the Thai-Built model comes with a reverse camera, whereas the German-Built model has a computerised car in the 5" colour screen showing the distance with colours. The system though is semi-automated, you still control the brake and accelerator.

Have to agree with Damo. It's a non-issue for me, and I jump between a Falcon, Focus and Magna. It's something you just get used to, and to be honest, I actually prefer the indicator on the left. But each to their own

If you're car has manual transmission it's actually flat out wrong, hazardous at worst for the indicator stalk to be on the left side in a right hand drive car.

I'd say it's a mostly side effect from cars that are primarily produced for the LHD market and our compliance/ADR's aren't strict enough to do anything about it.

Don't get me wrong, there's lots to like about having a left side blinker switch in a RHD. Keep your arm or durrie out the window when indicating...

There's a safety contradiction!

They are both the same Active Park Assist feature.
You hit the APA button and drive forward.
Vehicle detects a slot (only has to be 20% longer than the Focus)
You hit the OK once it finds a suitable slot.
Take your hands off the wheel and the Focus Steers automatically.
You control the Accel, Brake & gears, whilst following the instructions and checking your surroundings.

For some people, they will actually not buy the car due to the indicators being on the "Wrong" side

I thought I would have trouble with the indicator stalk being on the left in my Fiesta but as it turns out it hasn't been an issue for me at all. In 3 months I've got it wrong once. I can understand people being concerned but really, it's not a problem.

So your saying the US cars have the indicators on the right?
The norm is that where the vehicles are driven on the right side of the road the indicators are on the left and vice versa. Because the RHD market is small as compared to LHD the Euro car companies dont want to bother with the extra expense, but try to promote the "Euro" touch to it.
Yes you do get used to it, but when you drive more than one car it gets annoying.

My three cars, two of them are manual which are the Fiesta and Focus, both have the indicator on the left hand side, the Falcon is auto and its on the right.

We've got 5 cars here, 2 of them have indicators on the left the other 3 have them on the right haha.

I think people would be more concerned about the wipers being completely different, its up to turn them on in the Fiesta and the Focus where everything else it seems to be down.

Mirror, brake, signal, gear.

OR

Mirror, signal, brake, gear.

Neither requires gear and signal change simultaneously.
