Default Flight Centre took my money!

I've just tried to book a flight for October online with Flight Centre.

I opted to pay by paypal and it took the money but gave me an error message saying the seat was sold out.

How on earth can their system operate to take money when no booking can be made.

Anyone else had an issue like this?

Flight centre are usually pretty good with things like this. Sounds like a glitch.

If you call them up, they should see on their system. You can also show them the receipt in netbanking and paypal to back it up.

Make a claim on PayPal, it might take a few weeks but PayPal will definitely follow it up for you and I'd be surprised if you didn't get every last cent of your money back.

Have had the same thing happen when booking on the Virgin site.
Tried PayPal, TWICE, it threw up the error message......
Rang Virgin direct the next day, it was noted in their system as unpaid, so I missed out on the cheap flights
PayPal account shows no transaction history for it either.
Was not happy

I've always used credit or debit cards and never had a problem and only used paypal to pay rego or fines over the phone. How and why does/can it go wrong?

PayPal's buyer protection has saved me a few times, however you get pretty good buyer protection with most credit/debit cards.

The other thing about PayPal is that it allows you to receive money online, which is helpful for some people (like myself) who trade online a lot.

The fact that my card details are not disclosed to the seller.

Flight Centre agreed to process a refund within three working days.
