Default Cars built in china

I found this on another forum.
" The car itself was made in Guang Zhou, China and LOOKS like the US version but is far from it. They take many shortcuts, dangerous ones, to make a bigger profit. As for an accident, a dog was running across the street, they hit it and swerved into the concrete wall at 70 MPH, the car split and 3 people died, 2 more injured.

Recently China has stopped importing car parts for production from Japan and rather building them in-house. This is a direct result of this cheapness, the car split due to the steel plating being WAY too thin, because all the weld spots were unaffected."

Isn't the Volkswagen Polo sedan made in China. I'd avoid it like the plague, although being run by the Germans should ensure the qualitys at a higher level than that thing.

chinese car industry is very dodgy indeed, chinese company chery has been selling an near exact copy of the Daewoo Matiz, the chery qq minicar.

GM has tried to sue but will most likely be unsucseful, as was toyota trying to sue geely over a copied logo

Imagine if China somehow managed to "gain access to" such designs as the P76 and Camira... :

I try to avoid ANYTHING made in China as much as I can, but thats proving to be more and more difficult (read: almost impossible) these days. As for cars I would rather walk than drive a car made there. At least if I walk I'll arrive alive. Be very careful if you move to Asia and choose to buy a car. BMW, VW, Honda, Toyota, Merc, etc. all have factories there.

Copying western designs in the auto industry is absolutely rampant in China, every Chinese auto company just takes a current western design and slightly changes it, and the western car companies are powerless to stop it. They have tried to take it to court but the local companies always win due to communist buerocracy, those pesky commies.

I love the fact that the roof panel on that Honda has *torn* like alfoil... normally when a car comes apart like that it buckes and comes apart at the spotwelds.... same with the rear door frame...

my triton work truck was built in thailand...most of the performance parts are made in china now and just about anythin else is also made in china, even rubber dog poo.
as for that car torn up in the pic, it looks to be a Honda and im sure they will have to answer to that.
Q: whats the differance between a mexican built car and a china built car ?

A: the mexican car has a taco

Well actually, I remember reading in Motor or Wheels the Chinese did make a copy of the Kingswood for their domestic market.

Didn't we export a HQ to Japan and Mazda put a rotor in it?

It was either that or a small four cylinder of some sort. I think it was marked as a luxury car...

Don't laugh, they had a 26 seater bus or something with a triple rotor in it. The Kingy would of run circles around it. Moreso if you put one of those real 4 stroke things in it!

Sounds like BS to me in regards to the cheap steel, I cant see Honda allowing its cars to be built that way. Since those Chinese Accords are exported all over the World.

I wonder if this was made from cheap steel too?

Just for couriosty. I heared a report that claimed that the death toll on Chinas roads is 1000 fatalitys a day. And they also said that the way it is incressing it will reach 1'000'000 a year in 5-10 years.....

When I went to Turkey for a couple of weeks you could walk into an auto store and buy a Merc grill, BMW Rims, "Official" badges, Ford seats. Anything and everything that you need.
