I've always liked the 1980's australian assembled Bronco's with the Clevo. I remember getting driven home from school one day by friends of a family friend who owned one just like this. I must have been around 7 or 8 years old, but I still remember it to this day.

Seems to be a revival of 70s 80s F series Fords around here lately. A few I've seen have be re-regoed and are used in the trades.

If I had been asked yesterday what a Spectron was I wouldn't have known, but that article on the Spectron was a good read on what must be a rare example.

There's an importer of these vans in Sydney who's been bringing in some banging modded vans like these. The 8 piston brake upgrades, massive VIP wheels and acres of chrome, woodgrain and chintz stands out on the road!

Noticing a few pop all restored, shiny nd new.
Mechanic mate recently tracked down his fathers old F100 ('70-something) they used to have on their property when he was younger.
Plan is a tidy with freshened clevo.
Im really happy for him to have found it

Have you seen the VIP version where it is just a 4-seat...2 up front and basically recliners in the back with fridge and bar between.

But there is something about these seat-backs below that reminds me of Predator

Haven't seen a Datsun 240k since the early 90's I guess they all rusted away. My brother inlaw had a couple and thrashed the living crap out of them.

I don't remember the ford spectron or mazda traveller because no one bought them - the commercial variants econovan and e1800 I do remember though.
The best selling passenger vans here were the mits l300 and toyota liteace and hiace and I feel like I missing out a bit there because they were column shifters and the 'floor' shifter on the ford/mazda looks crazy.

My Dad traded in his kingswood when I was 6 y/o and all he bought was various mits or toyota vans in my childhood. Shame he never bought a mazda 'bongo' (they kept that name in Japan all that time even though they gave them boring names for our market after the 70s).
But anyway, one of the first 'cars' I ever drove before getting my licence was in one of those mits or toyota column shift vans of my dads.

E: Last time I saw aussie assembled F trucks or broncos was in the 90s, when carpenters or brickies used them because they were pulling a trailer full of tools all day. They were pretty rusty back then so I suspect that was their demise, rust.

Same, haven't seen once since the 90s. Like all old datsuns they rusted real bad. Wasn't the 240c AKA early skyline? Or did the c stand for 'cedric'?

People just didn't spend money on that ugly 240k, but I guess if it was called the skyline they may have not gone to the crusher so quick and someone would have saved them. But datsun fans had a big enough job trying to save the rusty 240Zs which I think was more worthwhile anyway.

E: Yeah, the 'c' as in the 240c was a cedric, and the k was the 'prince' skyline. Enthusiasts would have maybe looked after them better if they called the k a skyline is my guess. But 'z's and 1600s are better anyway. Mazda made the better 'large' hardtop with the rx4 compared to the 240k

You have to remember all of Australia's major cities are coastal, high humidity vehicles rust away quicker. Inland country cars not so much hence why there are so many good older cars and trucks still getting around on full rego.
Older F's have become an advertising comodity for trades, cafes, wine companies and small retail stores.
Driving a classic, resto or ratrod promo vehicle works better than being lost in a sea of over promised SEO internet searches.

My missus bought something a couple of weeks ago that in the 80s and 90s were everywhere but now pretty much gone.
A 1.6 , 4 speed Holden Gemini with cloth trim and factory AM radio.

Hyundai Excel, Mazda 121 and Ford Festiva.

Technically I see the Ford Festiva every morning as we've got a dead one growing moss in our front yard, but I mean alive ones on the road commuting

When was the last time you saw one of these?

Actually when did you ever see one.
Owned this one about 14 years ago now.
The BX 16Valve was a very underrated and misunderstood car.
Loved it.

Hi Guy's
I was driving past the Auto Electrician which i a few streets away from my place and in his yard he has a Ford Escort Van with his name written on the Van.

I haven't seen a Ford Escort Van for year's any where expect of course some car show's, so its good to see some of them are still around and in original condition.

Won't mind a little Escort van. See a couple still getting around here from time to time. Panel vans are such a practical vehicle. Love driving mine and its still earning its keep.

Your Panel Van looks rust free there mate....how do you keep the rust at bay on it? Especially those gutters?

I remember as a kid in the 90's seeing every second tradie with a rusted out panel van.

Not just Australian 'delivered', but Australian made. These were assembled in what became the Toyota factory in Melbourne. They also made Triumph 2000s there.

Yep no rust. Down to living inland away from salty sea air and humidity.
I see a carpet layer, electrician, greengrocer and the one below still being used everyday.
I get my truck tyres from these guys.

EDIT....Tonz, yes I've taken the day off, its raining, before you ask. Might go down to the bakery.
