Electric steering module has give up. Only option is to replace full steering rack. I have sourced one (not cheap) but have yet to fit it. Looking under the car there seemed to be a 3 part subframe that is attached to all sorts of things. Has anyone attempted this job before or is it not a job for diy?

I have got more info on this now and I will be attempting it this weekend. If I don't get too frustrated I will take some photos and try and post a step be step of the job.

I have now replaced the steering rack. Total time 9 hours. I'm sure I could do it in around 6hrs next time. If I get time over the next couple of weeks I will post a step by step with photos.

Hi. Did you have to get the rack programmed by Ford, I have been told this was required.

All we did was have the steering alignment done and everything seems to be fine. I'm presuming the rack was already programmed from the car that it came off, so we didn't bother.

No idea. The wreckers I bought mine from contacted Ford using my vin number to make sure it was the right part.

Seems it is a supersession of the part starting with the one i have found to the current part number listed by Ford. They cant tell me if or what was changed or different.

What I do know, is you have to have the one that matches your vin number and there are lots of different ones.
