I like to pick names which stand out.

Some names I have used;

Maverick (not after Top gun, but because he was the only one in a litter that came out to greet me)
Ambrose (after Marcos of course)
Memphis (after Gone in 60 seconds)
Patches (cause that was the colour she was)
Tuppence (cause she is only a tuppence the size of a normal dog!)
Shannon (after the Shannon River in Ireland)
Tyson (my old man's cat, cause he weighs 8.1KG, and struts when he walks. Vet has given him a clean bill of health)

Locations are a good source of unusual names, as are movie characters, and celebrities. Being a Ford man, Frosty, Moffat, Gibson and Roush are all on my cards for future use.

good luck with it and let us know what wins in the end.

Cheers

I let my children name our newest dog two weeks ago, after browsing a heap of names on the net i ended looking at movie characters, we got up to the X-Men, i liked Rouge but the kids wanted Storm so it was settled.

I've always liked Rosie for a female dog.

That's what I'll call my female staffy when I get her.

You gotta come up with a name that relates to the dog, for example a friend got his dog on Anzac day and called it Digger. I had a bluey and called it Bogart, but it got Bogey and Boges.
Or let the kids name it, like mine did with our latest dog, really original, Suzy.

We named our female Alaskan Malamute 'Tala' which is Native American for 'wolf'. So try to think of something that really does relate to your dog.

Short and sweet.

There is nothing more embarrassing than being in the park and calling at the top of your voice "BUBBLES".

That is what happens when an 8 year old girl gets to name the dog.
(Or MJ and a monkey)

If single syllable is what you're after, then look for something that can be shortened. It'll expand the number of choices you have.
E.g. One of our dogs (mini schnauzer) is named Walter. Can be shortened to Walt.
