Unfortunately i have had to work Monday night and will again tonight so the day will be spent sleeping. I say unfortunately as I had planned to attend the service being held at the State War Memorial in Kings Park @ 11am.

Either way when I am awake later today I will take a moment to reflect.

I feel very passionately that we all should take a moment to remember the sacrifice that was made for us. I'm very grateful to the men who served and the men and women who continue to serve so we can enjoy the wonderful lives we have in this country.

Lest we forget!

Probably won't be due to the number of different time zones.

This will unfortunately be my first Remembrance Day where I won't be apart of a memorial service.

Being a Senior Cadet in the AAFC I used to take pride in holding positions like Guard Commander, Wreaths, First Aid on ANZAC Day, Remembrance Day and many more ceremonies held here locally.

Even though I am not a cadet no more, and have no position in a ceremony I will be stopping 11AM to remember those who have fallen for our freedom both directly and indirectly.

One thing that always made irate was the number of drivers that would drive past local cermonies, with the windows down, music blarring, loud exhaust (no exhaust), and would toot their horn believing that was a sign of respect, down right rude if you as me, so I ask all those that may be driving at 11AM to pull over, turn the car and music off and take the time to remember those that allowed you to be alive to drive!

australia is slowly forgeting what remebrance day is all about. went to three major shopping centres yesterday to get a poppy and not one of them were selling poppys. at two of the shopping centres at the information desk the people we asked didnt even know what remembrance day was. we went to the RSL to get them in the end, it cost us six beers as we forgot to take our slouch hats of when we went inside. What is going on Australia, lest we forget.

yes i agree no one understands nowdays cause its we're fed at school about countries and cultures that mean squat to us.

teach us our own history i say, got suspended from high school for one week years ago when spoke up and said i didnt want to learn about *"insert racist slur here"* and wanted to show my pride in my own country.

back on topic, lest we forget indeed

I had to give my girlfriends little sister a lecture last night.

She goes to high school and she said to me, "We have stupid rememberance day sh** tomorrow, how gay."

SO not only are people forgeting. People treat it as a big joke.

At least some of us remember the TRUE Australian heroes.

Lest We Forget.

Yeah, when I worked at Woolies the memo went out with the script to be read, a week or so in advance, and everything would grind to a halt at 11am. But there were always a couple of people who didn't care/understand, and would get abusive because we weren't serving.

Here dead lie we because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.

I found it somewhat disgraceful todaythat the apprentice at work really had no idea why we were stopping work and having a minutes silence at 11.
Did the big explain to him.
It really gets to me that only last Tuesday people managed to stop for at least 10 minutes if not most of the day because of a frigging horse race but they were not able to manage a lousy minutes silence today for something that is really important!
