Talking 1993 Telstar Ghia

I have just bought a 1993 Telstar Ghia 2l sedan. I am told by the seller that the speedo is running backwards, ie kilometers going down instead of up. Is that even possible? If it is, how do I fix it? Yeah, I know, lower is better but when it comes time for rego, RTA Is going to be asking me some questions about the speedo reading last year being lower than this year.

Speedo running backwards sounds familiar?
Wasn't an old bloke on a spine brace that sold it to you selling up to buy a condo in Qld?
