Default Audio Install

Hey guys, started on Sunny's audio install today....thought I'd post some progress pics up. Most of today was spent gathering various bits and pieces for the install so work on the car started about 3pm :

The new gear purchased today consists of 3 Alpine 12" Type S subs (Dual 2 ohm voice coils) and a Jaycar 820WRMS monoblock amp to power them. This will be added to the existing equipment from the old EB which included an Alpine 1005 in-dash monitor with TV tuner box, VCD and CD stackers, Alpine 4 channel amp (for powering front and rear speakers), Alpine DDD 6.5" splits and Alpine 6" 2 ways for the rear. There is also a Alpine time-alignment processor which may or may not be installed as well.

Sunny wants the boot to have a 'factory' look to it so we'll be sticking to grey and black carpet with a few highlights here and there, and basically just boxing off the boot.

The job should be finished over the next couple of days, so I'll keep you updated with some progress pics. Anyway, all that got done today was we removed the old LPG tank and built the sub box which is sealed and has an internal volume of 150ltrs which will suit these subs well. The battery was in the boot anyway, but has now been re-located to between the rear of the sub box and the rear seats.

Pics....

Very, very nice mate, can't wait to see how she comes up Would you consider painting the install rather than carpet? Phantom purple would look kick **** with the color of your car ;) Get yourself some EF bootlid carpet aswell, since people will be looking into your boot now, it'll make the underside of the lid look a lot nicer...

Lol I didn't even know you were going to post this.

All credit goes to Doug, I didn't do anything except help hold down wood and move the box around :P He even chose the subs and amp and pre-ordered everything that I needed without me even knowing haha.

I recommend Doug at Eastside Installs for all your ICE needs!

Yeah man for sure it's definitely something I've wanted to do for a while. The boot has been the ugliest part of the car. The carpet was all retarded and cut up for the gas tank and I hate the boot trims so I pulled everything out.

The paint peeling off is good. It's a weight reduction technique. Nah seriously it's on the list. Just waiting for a good condition genuine second hand front bar to pop up somewhere then it's just a matter of getting it sprayed. You guys wouldn't believe how hard it is to find a decent second hand bar unless you want to pay Ford $350+

No! The gas tank had to go, it had been at the top of the list for ages.

Doug's (Eastside Installs) prices aren't expensive.

Plus he comes to your home or office or where ever and you get to sticky beak on the progress

Unlike a Car Audio Shop where you have to take the car to their shop and leave it there and you dont usually get to see what they have done as its all hidden once the work is completed

Looks the goods guys.. Cant wait to hear it pump. Any plans to win some db drags here and there?
I also recomend Eastside Installs, as my whole system was pretty much put in by Doug. None of that backyard bullshit, straight to the point professional work... 10/10.

Needs a bigger amp to win.........but would be good fun to try........

Also if you have 3 subs instead of 2 subs dont you go in a different class (Pro) in db drags?

Got some more stuff done today but not a whole lot because we both had stuff to do in the morning. Unfortunately it's still not going but the puzzle is starting to come together.

Doug's got some pics and they'll be up pretty soon I'd say.

No sorry mate no build progress pictures or anything like that on the internet at the moment but I have started one a while ago, and I have a bucketload of pictures so there should be one sometime soon I guess.

And also not going to compete or anything, never intended to get that serious.

EDIT:If anyone's interested in their own boot install I have 2 10" Alpine subs from the EB which were pretty decent, in a box for sale along with an Alpine V12 2 channel amp that ran them. It went pretty damn good in the EB but I just wanted bigger subs for the EA. Can provide RCA's and anything else required for installation. If you're interested, PM me.

Thanks for all the free plugs fella's! This thread sounds like an advertisement for my business lol :

Had a few hrs free this afternoon so we did a bit more. Just finished off the sub box and trim panel and started boxing in the sides. The subs are installed in the box now and it's all mounted securely with some angled brackets. Work kind of came to a halt when we realised Sunny didn't have the RHS boot trim....need to carpet that and put it in before boxing in the other side or making the false floor.

Edit: Damo - Won't need a capacitor, IMO they are a **** item anyway, all they do is add resistance to the power supply. And when you draw current through resistance, it equals voltage drop :( The battery is only about a meter away from the amps so they'll get all the power they need.

Here's a few more pics.....
