rear doors on au series 2 don't lock

hi everyone i currently own a 2001 au2 forte and the problem is the central locking does not work any more they use to unlock but then not lock now i have a bigger problem the back doors don't lock at all anymore and help would be appreciated

I had the same sort of problem with my au2. The actuators in the doors become buggered after a while from all the slamming they receive. I picked up a new actuator from ftgautosalvage (site sponsers with their own setcion) and threw it in myself. Probably about a 15 min job and easy as hell to do.
Mine was jyst the one rear door though

Ditto. My right rear door actuator went. FTG auto salvage to the rescue for parts,and it's easy enough to fit your self. Around $70 per door from memory.

Oh and another thing.. this happens to taxi's all the time!

* NEVER * unlock the passenger door the same time as someone is opening it from the outside or your door WONT close and your actuator gets permanentley jammed.

ive had the same problem with one of my rear doors aswell..

Same problem here. Actuator jammed when kids were friggen around with opening and closing door. Two weeks later the other actuator went out in sympathy. If you can fix it yourself, do so, because Ford will charge around $220 a side.

A short term "security" fix for this is to remove the rod between the outside door handle and the door mechanism. You need to remove the trim to do this, but it's a fairly easy job. You can still open the door from the inside.

****IMPORTANT NOTE**** If you are going to do this short term security measure, make sure the child lock is switched so that the inside handle will actually open the door - if you don't, then you will never open the door again (at least not without a gas axe or similar tool).

I have the same problem as well ... actually ... hold on ... I don't have any rear doors ...hmmm

Happened to me once when i tried to open a passenger door from the inside (instead of just pressing the central lock button). I just took off the door trim and put some wd40 on the actuator whatever and made sure that the rod thing wasnt bent. Havent had the problem since.
