Default My decking is finished.

Well I just got the council to sign off my decking. I am so wraped. I built it all by my self. Just need a Spa.

Very nice. We did our patio the lazy way and had it built in when the house was built, or knowing my Dad it would never have been done.

Nice deck mate,

Hey, can i pick your brain for advice?? i just put in plans for a 55sqm deck to go out the back of my parents place.

I did all the drawings and specs myself, and mum says the lady behind the counter at council didn't seem to have a problem with them from the breif glance she took of em. Also will be using stainless steel cables in the hand rails.

Did they give you issues on anything?? or did they ask you to re design something for the application???

Thanks

I did all the drawings and desgin work for the council myself. CAD is fun... They are pretty good at the council. as long as you don't talk S$!t. They gave me lots of pionters to make sure things were right and what they pick on due to there past issues with other decks.

1. Hand rail must be 1000mm high, No lower.
2. Steps must be 240mm wide and even spacing all the way....
3. Cable must be tight. and no more then 100mm apart
4. roof clearance had to 2200mm

but there is a book done by the Victoria timber council that gives you all the spec's which helps heaps.

Befriend a builder and get him to show you the ropes. 2nd fix is a good place to start (putting eves up on houses etc) learn the basics and it's easy stuff.

Well done XPcoupe. Now you can glam it up a bit with some potted plants or such. If that's not your go, I'd suggest at least putting something in front of that toilet plumbing to finish off the appearance.

Thanks for that.....

But bugger.... the hand rail i put is 950mm..... and the wires are 150mm apart......

well i guess they will ask me to re-submit. But no worries, im looking fwd to giving it a go myself rather than pay someone else to do it

Thanx again
