Hi. I have recently moved state and tried to get a RWC so I can change the plates and been told by the local ford dealer that my engine does not have a number stamped on to it. They say that they will need to take the engine out to stamp it! I had the engine replace in 2019 by another ford dealer in another state. Neither of the dealers are being very cooperative at this stage. Has anyone heard of this issue before? Is there an alternative to taking the engine out? I am in Brisbane so if anyone out there has a mechanic they can recommend in the area that may have some ideas could you let me know?

What year is the engine? Displacement? Type?
For the factory to have missed stamping the engine seems like a big deal. I would contact Ford Head Office about this, I’m sure they’d like to know.

Some spare part service engines come blank and need an engine number stamped on it when being replaced. This should have been done when the car had its engine replaced previously. The onus is on the dealer that fitted the engine.

Thanks for the comments. Is a 2 litre turbo was installed 2019 but not sure what year the engine was built. I am getting no response to calls and emails now, I think the dealer that installed it may have realise that they are liable. Would be interested to know whether the engine actually has to come out to be stamped as I have been told. That seems extreme.

you will need to fix this to be able to sell your car in the future.if the dealer is refusing to engage with you report it to your vehicle registration body
