Default 2000 WF Festiva Transmission Fluid

Hi guys,
I accidentally let transmission fluid out of my car instead of oil... idiot I know.
I have a March 2000 Festiva WF, Manual 1.3L. Can anyone give me help as to where I need to open up to fill up the transmission fluid.
My research has said mostly that I need to remove the speedo cable, and under a plate near there there will be a place to fill it, but this seems very convoluted and I don't want to risk damaging the speedo cable unless necessary.
I really wish I had a manual for my car in times like this...

Thanks for any help!

Should be on top of the gearbox where the speedo cables goes in, you should be able to get it from under the car.

Then you have the fun part of making oil go up hill, so buy a oil pump

Haha filling from underneath sounds awful. Just to clarify, do I need to remove anything except the nut for the filling point?

Just the nut I'm fairly sure, it should lift out, it has this little mark on it for full transmission fluid level.

I used Dexron III ATF for the fluid, Im pretty sure thats what it recommends.

The same **** you put in a Falcon

I used Castrol TQ-95 or something it was called.

Damo thanks so much for your help!
I'm able to lift that out from the top? Or will I need to get the car high enough to be able to go underneath and properly get above the gearbox?

I've only done it from under the car, you should be able to feel it up there and just lift it up.

Make sure you jack it up and use stands.

Thanks again Damo. I'll give it a go later on and see how I fair.
I'll definitely be using stands. Heard too many awful stories about those that didn't...

Hey Damo, I've been having a lot of trouble finding where exactly I need to fill this transmission. You mentioned you have the book for the 1999 Festiva I think?
If you have a spare moment would be you able to either direct me to where I can see an image or scan one/take a photo for me?
I know that's asking a lot, any help will be appreciated.

I remember it biing on the side, not the top to be honest.

I also remember that the picture in the book of the engine bay does not match the installed hardware, ie where it says it is in the book is not where it is in reality.

When I changed my CV's the guy removed something from the side (passenger side???) of the gearbox and pumped fluid into it.

I ended up getting it just 10 minutes ago. Was really easy once I figured out what to do exactly. Damo's instructions are correct. However I didn't get that you had to pull the mechanism the speedo cable goes into out. Once you unscrew the 10mm screw next to it, you have to slowly wriggle the mechanism out (with cable detached). That makes a hole into the gearbox where you can fill, and the actual gauge is on the side of that plug.

You fill the transmission through the speedo cable and the notches on the speedo gear is the level, You can run auto tans fluid as in Dextron but they recommend the 80 grade stuff as it is lighter. the gear box is pretty simple but the Gear sets go in them
