LR 02 Zetec

Garrett GT 28R turbo at 7psi
42Lbs Injectors
Microtech ecu
Front mount intercooler

Hes expecting around 130kw at the wheels, so we will see what we get on monday, will post what its like to drive home from there, like a 70km drive home through built up area of adeliade then opens up to the highway thru the Barossa valley bwahahahhaha. This is still with stock internals and stock exhaust etc. I mean the figures will be close to an XR5 i think...but im lighter. With their test car running at 4psi they attained approx 155kw at the crank and 270nm of torque, with a 0-100 in 6.95 and quarter mile in 14.8, mines gonna be at 7psi so i cant wait.

Zetec is 96 kW. (2.0 litre)

Non zetec 2.0 litre (auto only) is 89 kW (I think????)

1.8 litre (manual only) not sure. Might also be 89 kW

got plans for the suspension and so on?

haha you need to get yourself a turbo-back system as well.. not sure on the diameter of the zetec's exhaust, but pumping 7psi through you'll want at least 2.5"

Sorry. Cleaned.

1.6 Duratec and 1.8/2.0 low-series Zetecs are totally different engines, plus it was only 85kw as clarified by Melbzetec. Totally different engines.

The 96kw 2.0 Zetec (high-series for want of a better description) developed the extra power through nothing more than being tuned for premium 95RON fuel. Worth it too, it's a much nicer engine because of it and a noticeable difference.

Which has always raised the question in my head, as to whether there would be much to be gained in reflashing the 96kW engine with an aftermarket tune, given it is already tweaked for more performance??

I reckon you're pretty spot on there Steve. Sure it's possible, but not really worth it for the gains that may be had. an 85kw job has it begging though.

Also, different gearboxes and gearing for the 96kW and 85kW engines. Often forgotten.

Very true Steve, the Zetec has shorter gearing and a stronger gearbox, so it charges just that little bit harder agian.

As for the 1.6L Duratec, I honestly don't know a great deal about it, however being the first generation of the engine, it's all new, or at least was for WP Fiesta, it should still have plenty of potential.

And the 162NM in the LR Auto is virtually non-existent until the engine is above 3,500rpm and then things start to get interesting. Get it above 4,500 and beyond and then you can start to feel it coming alive.
