Exams 1 down 4 to go

Basicly started my mocks today, sat the english exam earlyer today.
Shat myself for the last 2 weeks about how hard it was going to be and did all the study etc that i thought would help me out, got in there today not to get ahead of myself but i think i should of done fairly well (passed).

Just wondering back when ever it was that you sat exams, did teachers, parents other people talk how difficult exams are up to you??
To make it sound a hell of a lot harder than it is? or were they all on about par with what you were expecting??

I did my year 12 exams 4 years ago...****! Time flies!

Nobody said anything about how hard they were. I just told to get off the PC and study. I didn't

But don't get complacent, or lazy. Sure, right now during study it will suck, but you'll have 2-3 months off afterwards! So put the work in now and you'll have more choices on career than I did.

The exams aren't hard if you prepare for them.

yep everyone said that these exams train you up for uni. the school exams are actually stricter than uni exams......lol. But yeh school exams arnt that hard. I thought they were when i did them last year but as soon as i got into uni, i now see those yr 12 exams are fairly easy.

Same^^^ I'm finding most of my uni exams a piece if cake compared to year 12, main thing is just try and study hard and you'll reap the rewards, two weeks of hard work now can make a big difference to the opportunities you'll get later on.

I reckon Year 12 exams are far harder than Uni.

Uni focuses on a specialised unit of work over a 4 month period, compared to year 12 which is a 9 month period!

Also, at Uni many of the exams you undertake will be in an area in which you specialise. Year 12, some units will not come naturally to you, even if you enjoy them.

I've always done well with Uni exams as I find preparation comparatively easier, whereas Year 12 I had 5 exams, compared to Uni where 4 was my worst.

If you havn't studied up by now, not much point, lol.. Aint gonna change your enter a whole lot.

I've always found exams extremely easy, especially english. Only problem for me is sitting still for 3 hours and not throwing stuff around, lol. Ringing other people in the exam room is always fun though, there's always someone who forgets to turn their phone on silent!

All my exams since year 11 (2001), we were told to turn our phones off even before the exam started.

Of course, that didn't stop some idiots from not listening and keeping their phones on, which subsequently rang during the exam.

I remember during my year 12 English Exam with our hall packed out. Wooden floor, wooden walls.
Somebody let rip a loud one and despite being 19 at he time (I was a year older than most others), I couldn't resist and cracked up laughing. Didn't matter, because a lot of others were too.

Took about 2 minutes for the room to re-focus.

I've studyed up befor now, just finalising revision at the moment, i can't stand english the subject just makes me cringe.

I'm studying Electrical Engineering, and I find the uni exams to be a constant struggle. Year 12 exams weren't too bad, particularily when you can take in a cheat sheet. At uni, I never get that privelage. Sometimes they provide a formula sheet, other times I have to somehow remember 20,000 formulas. Damn I hate exams. Good luck with yours

The trick to exams isn't hours and hours of study it's knowing the topics you need to know. It's not quantity its quality, hours of study doesn't equal a good mark the quality of the study is what matters, I hate study and do very little for uni, I work better when I leave to the last minute and do it under pressure, in all subjects the teachers/lecturers tell u what things you need to know, just focus on them and you wont waste hours remembering stuff you wont need!

I think consistency is important.

Doing all your study a week before the exam is crap. Even if you cover everything, you won't do great.

You need to study throughout the year to recreate the links in your brain. Put it in long term.

And NEVER study on the morning of the exam.
What you learn will go into short term memory, and under pressure and stress, short term memory shuts down.
I hear parents who say, "MAke sure you do some work in the morning". But they are doing more harm than good.

i had my english exams 2day 9am -12pm :( then me and mates got a bit drunk (Tipsy) and had pizza then had a maths exam later on at 3pm i aced that soo freakn easy lol one of my friends got caught smelling of alcohol. Serious im not taking these 2 serious i jus wanna see where i am what i hav 2 study for. English exam was pretty hard i dont like reading books :(

fellas, do past exams.. thats the trick

Im in my last year of civil eng degree and i could pass it off simply doing a few past exams before the exams. Im not gonna learn anything that way though, which is why i turn up.

I will agree, even in 4th year, year 12 exams are harder. So much broader in topic.

As long as you don't run around with your undies on your head at the exam, and prepare throughout the year, you should be fine.

i am loving the fact we can take in an unlimited ammount of pages in as a cheat sheet for the maths exam. English i have done countless essays and the teacher is happy with me aceing it. accoutning i am happy if i get a 10/50 lol, i hate that subject. Cant wait untill this year is over. unlimited pages for a cheat sheet in maths, hmm weird. We get 2 pages front and back so a total of 4 sheets. It's plenty not complaining there, but unlimited sounds a little fishy, i'd want to double check that, wouldn't wanna go in there and sit down to do the exams and find you have to throw acouple pages away.

Monash Exams Suck A55.

6 x 3hr exams each semester was a bloody killer. Im glad they changed the system to be only 4 subjects.
