Default If you had access to a DeLorean...

and could go back in time to buy your 1 dream car to tuck away...

What would it be?

It'd be a toss up between a Datsun burnt orange 180B SSS and and Mazda RX7 Series 1 in green.

Thoughts?

Bit slow in the office, comrade?

Assuming there is sufficient means to purchase the car, I’d take an RR/Bentley shooting brake made from an early Silver Shadow.

Lc gtr xu1 in pine lime. Thats my dream car, always has been. But if it has to be from my time, so that case would be from 87 up. VL walkinshaw. If the criteria is cars newer then your drivers licence, fpv force 6.

A 180B? Really

Phase 3 would be the obvious choice for a lot of us here i reckon. Could be bought fairly cheap back then, and worth a mint now.

I would stop myself selling my VH Charger in 1990 for $2500.00 to tuck it away to work on in the future.
Back then the only place I could keep it was on the street and it got broken into every second night.

Funny how we are all using a worthless DeLorean as the vehicle to get what we want.

I wont need to travel too far back in time for my choice/s. Keeping with the fantasy theme of the thread, I'm going to assume I going to be able to afford the three below -

Aston Martin DB9 -

Or a Jaguar F-Type R -

If affordability was a factor, then a FG MKII XR6T ute in Octane or Mars red would be at the top of my list.

Hi Guys,
if i had access to a Delorean i would have never sold my CL Valiant Charger.
I love my Ford Mondeo, its got great brakes which the Charger didnt, its got Air conditioning, good on fuel and just nice to drive.

The Charger was fun to drive on windy road as it was a 4 speed manual, and it was easy to work on and fix.

Apart from only getting about 300km to the tank and it was really hot in the summer because it had no Air Conditioning it was good to drive.

They used the same amount of fuel as a 70s-80s aussie 6. I drove mine to pearce RAAF base every day (40kms each way) I think I got 12l/100km which is respectable for a 6 back then too.
Mate with a calais 5L driving to pearce got like 15l/100km. Mine was a extend port 13b with twin webers so it was much worse than another mates 12a stocker - so good on fuel he did pizza delivery with it. But mine did about 15l/100km in the city and burbs (similar to my old falcons, maybe 1l/100km worse) and I think my mates VL calias was 17l/100km - and so much slower.

As far as oil - these just drip a few drops into the intake you know - related to throttle pedal, used about 1l between services - ie a hell of lot less than many piston engines these days!

Rotaries were magic back in the day, but their time has passed, as back then piston engines were under-powered slugs, but they got a lot better (and the rotary could not).

Anyway, my fav era of cars is the mid-late 60s. Slab sides, hard tops, no fins, preferably ford or chrysler. Big coupes, pony cars, 4dr pillarless hard tops. So many to choose from.
