Default Ford Geelong Engineering equipment sale

Grays online. I would be surprised if this had not been picked over already.

I guess the I6 casting is long gone.

We brought the XW home last year and went past the panel stamping plant, which was being dismantled. Was a bit emotional.

I had a squizz through these last night, made me feel very sad over what we have lost.
I would love to know half the stories this machinery and equipment could tell.
It also made me think about how much mechanization is taken for granted.
I doubt that the majority would appreciate how much actual work all our machines do..

Presses got sold off. Dies and tooling most likely scrapped.

Where to ? Never saw any Presses, CNC machines, milling or lathes went into Public Auctions or selling sale on behalf of Ford Australia.
Got any proof that Dies and tooling most like scrapped ?? Maybe send overseas to make aftermarket body parts ?
Just selling steel work bench, old welding machines and other stuff good for handyman or bins

Any handyman will use steel workbench for home users

There was an earlier auction. Few years ago now. Some was sent overseas.

And Ford don't care about aftermarket parts now. They were scrapped.

They also have channels outside of auctions for getting rid of factory equipment.

Aftermarket parts have been made and stored.

Stamping dies are scrapped.

yeah, you'd be surprised at the terrible wastage of some large companies, i've heard stories from blue collar guys telling how good gear gets tossed in the bin, such a waste. a company that i work for threw out heavy duty engine hoists , and other workshop equipment, i got a brobo cold saw for free (worth thousands new) , got a hercus lathe for $200, and could of got a bridgeport mill with dro if i tried.

Well the dies and tooling really have no use any more. But the scrap value of tonnes and tonnes of steel must be pretty high. Some of those dies must be easily 50-100 ton each.
