Default ed fuel pump removal

Hi all..

Im trying to remove the fuel pump out of my ED (sedan). Whats the deal with the big hose clamp?
Im sure the lid is just screwed on so why cant i snap this little bugger off and unscrew the lid? Ive tried every tool that has been made and i cant get to it due to where the clamp is positioned.
I was told once that this clamp is there to stop the proper Ford tool from slipping off.

Any info much appreciated.

cheers.
