Hi ...
2000 AU Falcon Futura 4 litre 4 speed auto... Can anybody tell me why our Falcon is hard to start when it is parked on a slope? When the nose sits lower than the rear end it is hard to start and it sometimes takes two or three attempts. When the rear sits lower than the nose it is not as bad but the car starts best when it parks on a levelled ground. It has never done it before and it usually never caused any problems. It has got new spark plugs and news leads becaus ethey were bad. Could it be a weak fuel pump or a clogged fuel filter ? That was my first guess. Anyone got any other ideas ? Would be happy to get some feedback Cheers The Moose |

I would go with the pump and filter option.. both are a relatively easy and cheap fix

my au used to be a ***** to start if ii rushed it, i used to have to turn the key on and wait for the lights to go off on the dash (fuel pump prime) then start it

Hi there...
well...I am not rushing it at all... I turn ignition on wait for the fuel pump to stop pumping and then turn the key... it cranks as usual and then the engine doesn't know what it wants to do....it fires a couple times and runs all shaky and stops again...second attempt... turn ignition on...fuel pump goes ...weeeeeeee.....fuel pump stops pumping fuel to the fuel ignition rail... I start and then it starts.. its weird...it only does it when parked on a slope and the nose sits lower than the rear end ( not even very steep). It runs absolutely smooth and no problems at all. i have the same thing happen to me a couple of times, turned out to be my spark plugs

did u change the coil pack?

The coil pack is still the same....but why do you think its the coil pack ? why does the Falcon starts perfectly well on a levelled ground and only plays up when I wanna start it when its parked on a slope ? If it runs shakey...id put my money on the fuel pump. Had the same type of thing happen apart from it refused to start, turn the key, just shakes about violently...
Had to whack the fuel tank while dad was cranking it for it to start working properly haha.
