If theres nothing else wrong with the car, you like it and want to break the throwaway mentality you could always look for a second hand engine, not to say that the replacement wouldn't have any issues either.
Scrap value would be limited I'd say, the main thing it'd be sought after for would be its engine for Escort/ Cortina Zetec conversions.

Cheers, but the issue is that the cost of buying a used engine of unknown condition plus the labour involved would likely come close to the value of the car. I don't like the risk. No mechanic I have spoken to has suggested that an engine swap is a good idea.

Put an ad in your local FB buy and sell page and some one may want it for parts.

As the rego has been cancelled, it’s no longer viable for a DIY’er to repair.

Due to location it’s probably close to having to pay someone to take it away.
