There is a blue Commodore Ute around the corner from me.
NSW plate - WPN-XXX (XXX are numbers that I can't recall). Looks like a personal plate as well... Hmmm

Just a look through these mags would find you adverts selling anything from custom chromed (remember them) parts, full custom stitched van interiors, custom mural spray painters and full fibreglass flare kits. They were the bees knees in being a motoring statement at that time in history. The van scene didn't seem to be bias towards one particular make, even the little Gemini, Bedford CF van and Toyota Corolla panel vans were popular. Only w*g boys owned purple Valiants and the thought of modifying 7 seater people movers was unheard of. Times move on and the dualcab ute thing is now king but basically the same human nature applies in that they are being modified to suit the owners custom needs.

These days the automotive scene isn't as popular as it once was, at least in Melbourne.
There's less and less modified cars being used as daily drivers on the streets, it's rare to see modified JDM cars that were common place 10 years ago getting about. Doesn't seem to attract new blood, Gen Y and now Gen Z don't seem too interested in the scene or as a hobby anymore compared to Boomers and Gen X. |

There is a plumber's ute driving around in Queensland with the rego 125HIT. I thought it was well done, particularly as it part of the standard registration sequence.

I've seen some borderline ones here in the West, Crapi on an old Capri, Jizzem, WTF? bogan spec VT commo, chick driving, Short @ss, and my fav, slimlines, WA vertically on the side, NKER on the horizontal display.
Over here it seems to be up to whoevers on the help desk that day to approve them.
