That bloke couldn't design a set without having the car due to the non-factory driveliene setup. Is he local to me? Mandrel bent sounds good but I need to talk $. In the end that's what makes me decide. I know the engine performs best with pacemaker 4095's but they don't fit around the trans.

Barney (AKA Barney's Exhausts) from Hallam Performance is the one most likely getting the job.

Forgot to mention custom made is on the cards if the price is right. I know I can get the 4095's for $620 then I'd have to modifiy them to suit.

Yep he'd need the car to fit/design them.
He's near Knox.

when i installed the 302Boss motor in my old XY i rang around all over Australia and the best price with a list of body and engine trans combo's was Gonzo race pipes for around the $1000 mark.found him to be very knowledgable and helpful.

I doubt they'd do a set of off the shelf pipes to suit a CHI headed clevo that fit around a powerglide transmission. They may do them to fit around a Ford box though but I don't have one of those. They kept breaking.

(sorry, slightly off topic)

Brenx, I can organise a C10 for you that you will not break.

There are plenty of guys now running in super stock with them.

I know but they rarely see street use. That's why they last. The top gear clutch pack and band seems to be an issue. I've been through 5 c4/10's and $8000. 1 powerglide and $3000 (not fitted) = reliable. I can't afford to have one that keeps blowing up or needs refreshing all the time. I don't like being poor.

I've seen too many people waste $ on them inc myself. Most that say they'll last don't have big hp/torque or a reasonably sized convertor. Reasonably sized convertor being 4500rpm+.

I'm my experience c4/10's run hot which also doesn't help it stay alive. I run 2 big transcoolers. They have cast flex too which a aluminium pan helps with this.

I know of a few that seem to be coping but they don't see much use and they are stage II (not manualised). They also don't run convertors larger than 3500rpm.

I've already had Keas and Wholesale autos offer to use me as a test mule for auto strength. I didn't go ahead with it as I didn't want to pay for something that'll break. If someone wants me to test their product? It shouldn't cost me anything. Especially if I'm the one risking everything.

They last box I had ended up in 20 or more different pieces. That was enough for me to move away from a weak Ford box. Unfortunately in the long run the glide is a better financial decision. I've never had an auto stay in the car for this long. The glide went in the car in Jan 05. Still faultless in Dec 05. Longest c4/10 I've owned was 6mths. I met plenty of c4/10 builders during my c4/10 ownership.

It's disappointing not to run a c4/10 but that's life and my wallet and I will get over it.

I've compared glide vs c4 on the strip. Glide = slower 60 but in the topend it wins.

c4 = 11.96
glide = 11.85

Both the same 351. An extra gear means nothing to me especially if it's going slower. That extra gear change wastes time ;)

The 'glide has to be costing a few tenths.With your power & torque figures, a C4 with your setup would be running mid to high 10's easily.I have a few 1000 street k's & about thirty passes on my C4, with not one problem.

I was pretty sure I've shown thats not the case and it's just a myth but obviously you were asleep or you type with your eyes closed.

I've had various emails from glide user that own Ford that have found exactly what I found. It ain't slower at all.

i dont think the 393 would even notice its driving a higher first gear with the tq it makes.

It doesn't. I've taken off in top gear a couple of times. : It felt a bit weird (didn't jump off the line) but still spun the tyres a little anyway. Falcon Coupe has been in the car with me when I've done it.

That wasnt a fair comparrison. If the C4 gave a better 60 foot and was tuned right, it would have been quicker at the end too. You also had a convertor that had 900 more rpm in the glide, and off memory a different manifold.

Dude the only myths around here are the power figure claims compared to track times.........

I don't expect them too. The ones that have seen my car know what it has and hasn't got. They give credit where it's due. They seen it driven to event's. They are mainly those trying to do similar things. They know I'm not hiding anything at all. Well apart from cam spec but it ain't much bigger than the old cam. I actually think it's smaller than your windsor cam. I wanted it sedate.

Once I add a few more traction adders like yourself. I take it up a notch.

My cam is n the low 250's with 595 & 611 lift,nothing spectacular.I wouldn't mind an extra 50 cubes to play with you blokes but the little 347 will have to do.

Dion is so far from the truth he wouldn't know.

No transbrake on a C4. [edit]Transbrakes break c4's. Not good.

With a C4 the 4500rpm convertor and 1st gear compared with the glides 1st and a 5400rpm means the glide is still under geared due to a taller 1st gear.

By rights the c4 should have been faster but it wasn't case closed. I've had plenty of confirmations of the same.
