Default Kevin Rudd finished?

Sky News is breaking Rudd's tenure as prime minister is almost finished, they're holding a meeting to see whether or not he'll remain PM or Julia Gillard will replace him.

Interesting developments within the last few hours.

I hope this thread doesn't get closed as it's not a political discussion, just amazing that this has developed so quick. Many are saying it's extrodinary and history in the making.

One has to ask will it do any good if the election is only several months away? People need to see leadership style over time

I don't think that K.Rudd will be back, and I also think that this will screw Labor coming into an election, worse than they have already managed to do themselves.

Can anyone clearly articulate the policy difference between the Govt and the opposition?

After hearing the conference it seems nothing has changed. The usual over intelligent answers to simple questions and flogging of policy that got him in the manure in the first place.

Well and truly gone I'm sure. Fingers crossed.

One believes that money flows uphill, one knows money flows down. Policy reflects this phenomenon.

Abbott must be rubbing his hands together tonight.....

Cant say im a huge fan of a system that allows a non elected PM....

In my mind a spill should lead to an automatic election, let the people pick THEIR PM.....

Usually the ones that get closed are done so because it's that team vs this team and the war never stops. If this one doesnt do that and resort to a never ending flame fest I'de imagine it would be left open.

Wow is this seriuosly happening?
This country gas to have one of the most unorganised and silly governments in the world. NSW are having a major overhaul of the sate leaders, and the country doesn't know who is leading it? How can prime ministers swap months out from an election, and how do we know that who we elect will be in for full term?

All we need is stability and a group of leaders with level heads and fresh, reasonable ideas.

My bet is once this is all done and dusted, if it goes the same way when Labour Beattie gave the reins to Capt Bligh, Qld as a state got keel hauled. Federally, the same is on the cards....time will tell.

I suppose we will now get to test drive her for a while before electing as PM.

which would never happen, i believe having one PM for so long (Howard) hasn't done well for us, it's made labor unpredictable and had the liberals follow suit

Rudd is gone, its a definite, now we just need to figure out where to go from here...

IMO, this country needs a total reform of government and all policies, as the mess we are in ATM is a bit troubling...
K rudd has both good and bad points, but I can honestly say I hope he gets the boot. Too many mistakes I think.

Rudd, Swan, Tanner & GILLARD made all the decisions.

I will be glad to see his backside, he did not have a level head, he may of had fresh ideas but at what cost to the Aus people?

Gillard will be a fresh replacement, lets see what she will do in the 7 months she will be in, cant be much but i would like to see the mine tax scrubbed for starters. I cant beleive Rudd even considered it.

Will be an intresting 7 months, as 4v said abbott is rubbing his hands tonight and i bet he's already at it with his campaings.

I feel the country is experiencing an unprecedented low point in politics both on state and federal levels. It is difficult to get enthusiastic about any politician or party at the moment, and the polls are reflecting this.
