Default Pinto Info Needed

Hi.. Can anyone tell me if i can use 2.3 pinto(usa) con rods in a 2L aussie escort motor ? Will they stroke the motor to bigger than 2L ? and will they fit 2L crank ? Or is it smarter/better to use new h beem rods that are made for the 2L ...... Im also after a turbo manifold for sierra efi head, and 40tho over sized pistons dished for turbo.to suit pinto 2L... Thanks for any help you can give me... Cheers, Daz.

Hi Daz, in my experience if you are planning to go the turbo route it will work out cheaper and less stressful if you just buy yourself a good set of after market h-beam rods to suit with a good set of forged pistons, and you will pretty much have yourself a bottom end you wont need to worry about. The initial $$$ outlay may seem expensive but it will save you chewing through standard rods and the time / labour / loss of drivetime when you have to replace them. Any of the standard rods are not really going to handle 7 grand plus rpm for very long before something goes bang. Check out Burton Power in the UK for rod and piston kits to suit your application. At minimum it will give you a good starting point to source similar gear from other suppliers. Good luck!
