Default MD Auto Stop Start

I have a 2015 MD Titanium Diesel Hatch
My issue is that the restart function of the Auto stop start feature is problematic, sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't.
Unticking the Auto Engine off in the In dash Display menu temporarily resolves the issue but this box does not stay unticked.
It will turn itself back on by itself.
Being able to turn off the the feature will give me peace of mind as I will then not have to worry about whether the car will restart as it should. It is disconcerting to find that the car is not restarting when you wish to take off from the traffic lights or stopped traffic
Advice on cause and how to fix would be appreciated.

This is not a starter motor issue but in the electronics of ther Auto Stop Start
No sure how it got into a subgroup of Starter Motor

I'd go back to the user manual and read up on how the system is supposed to work, are there any limitations that restrict or prevent it working. Like A/C on or low battery voltage or even low capacity.

I'd have the battery load tested to give you an idea of it's health, it's almost the first step one should do before all else. It's a free test at some battery sellers and auto stores.

Thank Corbin
Yes I am aware of the low voltage battery issue. This demonstrates itself in that the Auto Stop Start does not engage and hence the engine does not stop when the car is still.
My issue is that you cannot turn off the Auto Stop Start function and have it stay off.
I want to disable it so that it does not stop the engine as the reliability of the function is such you do not know when it will not function properly and start the engine again when you need to move on.

Doesn’t solve your problem but starter motor is in reference to how many posts you have made

Have you scanned for any codes - had battery tested remembering that it is a high capacity battery

- check with Ford if there is any programming updates for this problem or a reset procedure

Does it keep running if you switch it off with “A” button
Do you have a trailer socket and tow bar - does it cut out if trailer is attached
Manual or auto

Don’t know if this works on this model but try the following to reset battery monitoring system

Ignition on - flash hi beam 5 times-press brake pedal 3 times -check for charge warning light flashing 3 times

It is a requirement that the stop start feature resets every time the car is started again. It can’t be permanently turned off. This is for all makes and models.

Depending on age of the car, I’d look at the battery first as mentioned previously. Fords are known for doing some odd things when the battery is not in perfect health.

You can disable it, but only if it has a switch to turn off and on, you just need to rig up a simple module to wire into the switch that will give the impression of a button push at start up, I have done this on 1 of my smart cars that has the feature ( I hate it and I dont think it saves any fuel at all )

Here is the unit I made https://www.evilution.co.uk/mod/mhd-...f-at-start.htm

When the car was new the Auto Stop Start could be disabled by having the In Dash Display menu box for the Auto Stop Start unticked. This will now not stay unticked.
The press switch beside the gear shift resets every time the engine is turned off and turning this function off with this switch will disable the function until the that reset.
I am happy with this but my issue is about the In Dash Display menu item which will no longer stay unticked.

Auto engine off has nothing to do with auto/start stop. Auto engine off is if you let the engine idle with no input what so ever after a set time (think 15 or 30 mins) the engine will shut off after that time.

When Auto start stop function has an issue it simply stops working from turning off, if yours turns off but wont restart again there is something else going on.

Most common issue with these are batteries or the pump in the auto but the later usually logs a DTC.
