i was told by a convicted car rebirther/chop shop owner (i work in the jail so i have contact with these sort of low lifes) and he said that it isnt hard to steal even the biggest show car he said that generally that its done by a team of people wich is usually a head of opperation wich gives the steal team the details of the car ie:where its parked that sort of stuff. then theres a steal crew wich usually push the car out of wherever it is it doesnt matter if they want to take it bad enough they will he went on to tell me that one car they took an original GTHO owner took the wheels off the car every time when it was parked he told me they would move the car with there own wheels so be extra carefull especially another story was ar a car show well a very known car show where they drove a trailer in people even stopped and asked if they needed help moving the car the pushed it on the trailer not on person thought this was weird he used the cover story the electronics were down this is at a car show which every year gets aroud 100,000 people through the gates over the days.

then the worst part if the car isnt found within a week expect the worse im sorry but this is the case as they will take the engine cos they will already have a buyer an engine like this he said would prob go for between 16,000$-20,000$ esyily and the car will usually be taken apart by young blokes like apprentice mechancis im not saying all apprentices are llike this just some minority he said they are targeted esy because of the small amount of cash they make at work and can generrally earn 3-5 grand from a nights work which makes them easy targets as they generally dont have any contact with the head and they are getting exploited as if they are caught will get small sentences or fines.

he said a way they would also operate is go to car shows and sus the car out they would find the area the person lived or just go up to the owner anywhere asking about the car and like anyone thinks that they are taking an intrest in the car but you just have to remember the people who like while you have been out the front washing the car have stopped and asked questions or when you drive the car pull up and do the same
its just you have to remember the sus things like when you go back and think geez that guy was asking weird questions that sort of thing.

by no way am i sticking up for this person by anyway im jusst trying to inform people on to this **** way that people are as there are scum like this in the industry you just have to be careful especially the sydney area lately as there have been a very high number of show cars gone missing in the last month.

Thumbs down Stolen XF UTE ........

Hello, some-time between 2am & 8 am last night my white XF ute was stolen from Whalan NSW, I was visiting my sister, It has alloy builders racks & a XE/XF Ford alloy bullbar along with XE Ghia rims, I had just replaced ball joints - rotors- starter motor and a new Century Battery.... all up around $800 - $900 along with countless hours of fixing the ute up alittle........... Yes its a bummer, did the police report & spoke to NRMA, agreed value was $2000........ but over last two years they now state $1500 ! remove $600 for excess i get $900, I told them thats what i spent last week on parts 4 it. Im sure it wont be found as i think was stolen 4 parts.................. Rego ZBT-951.

Thanks.......... Have not heard anything as of yet, They went to alot of trouble to steal it so Im guessing I wont see it again, As the ute was very straight & rust free, Most likely stolen for the bullbar & builders racks !!!!

Latest news................. Ute was found at 5am yesterday & was towed to the Police Compound yard for Fingerprinting !!! Police did not tell me much, went down to the compound yard to have a look but being Sunday it was all locked up, they did say 1 rim & tyre was damaged & no builders racks !!! I will go down again tomorrow Tuesday to see how it is, so hopefully body is OK as I have a spare gearbox & 6 cylinder crossflow engine from a XE Ghia i can put in the old ute............ So fingers crossed. A big thanks to the guys that texted me stating they would keep a eye out 4 it.

Would any-one know where to buy a new set of builders racks ???? I did look on ebay but only had Racks for a BA Ford ute, Police did not say where ute was found ???? I have not seen it yet as it has not been fingerprinted , Once it has been dusted 4 prints I have arranged for it to be towed home, thanks for the V8 engine offer but i have a good 6 & 3 speed auto to go into the ute if its repairable, I will have the new set of racks welded on & a good alarm fitted plus Chain & padlock on the gates !!!!

Sounds good so far. Hopefully there isn't much damage. In the last few days I have been scanning every XF ute as well seeing if it's yours.

Regarding the chain and locks.... When dad had his XF he looped a chain around the front right seat mount and through the lower part of the steering wheel... no joke.

Glad they found it,
For ladder racks, we just used these guys for our Work Hilux - might be worth getting in touch, they were the cheapest we found, but in Kirawee it might be a bit out of the way for you http://www.sydneyutes.com.au/

Well the ute is back in the garadge !!! Complete with builders racks & Bullbar ????? No dings or marks just covered in the black dust from fingerprinting, Not 1 thing was stolen off it, It has a blown rear tyre only & engine seems ok, apart from the clack clack of the tappets, and alot of mud on it- so was most likely taken on a joy ride in open parkland, I cancelled the NRMA claim as they were only going to give me $900 after excess- what a joke, I told them that I priced new builders racks & they alone are $850 from Sydney ute world, Well next week I will replace the worn tie rod ends on the old ute them come summer a new coat of paint & hopefully have the Insurance bumped up.

My car has not been stolen but someone had a go at taking off with my AU Fairmont this evening.

Last night I was stupid enough to leave my car unlocked with a set of keys inside for about 2 hours. Someone got in it, nicked the keys and my wallet. Interestingly no attempt on the car.

Today I got the door lock and ignition barrels re-keyed. I last used the car at 9:30pm and then at 10:30pm I heard someone brake hard outside my house. As we live near a notorious intersection I figured it was 'just another near miss' BUT then my wife screamed out to me that OUR car was on the road.
I ran outside in only my undies to see, sure enough my AU on the road.

Looks like the bastards have come back, used the keypad to open the door, pushed it out of the driveway, tried to start it, failed and buggered off.

What do you think will happen from here? Do you think I can expect another 'visit'?

They might try their luck again, however if they didn't try to steal it the first time they're probably just kids or morons who want a joy ride. I mean what kind of car thief will steal the keys, and come back afterwards to steal it lol.
Good to hear they didn't get away with it but i'd probably keep the car in the garage or something from now on.

I had a similar thing happen at TAFE someone tried to steal my Escort RS, every car was broken into and yet security didn't tell anyone, the car that was stolen was found torched. A $1.50 micro switch saved my car.

They've made an attempt to take the car with FAIL.

The next thing to do is change the reypad to a new one thats different to the one they have.
Goodluck.

Speaking from my experience, it depends why they want your car.

25 years ago there were multiple attempts on my car over a 2 week period. I didn't catch them but they did give up.

About 15 years ago my home security measures deterred a 2am house break-in. The mongrels came back a week later during the day and avoided their previous mistakes. They gained entry. They were gone within 6 minutes relatively empty handed and bleeding. (They didn't come back again).
