The reduction in lockdown. With the 10 person rule, what i saw today was bigger places for sit downs still remain closed or takeaway only. But some smaller places dont really give a crap, nor do the sit down people. When i ordered lunch, the smallish place i ordered takeaway from (i was working in a place with a nice lunch room, a nicer place to be, even has an atm) they had more then 10. One table had 6 people on a table, no distancing or disenfecting surfaces once people left and new ones entered. So a breif spike is in my opinion what could potentially happen.

With all the restriction changes in the last week I just hope we actually wait at least 2-4 weeks to fully evaluate the effect.
There is no way we would be better off to go ahead full steam and then have to shut down again. Though given the unemployment figures and the huge amount of people basically paid by welfare I can understand the temptation to do so. 6.2% unemployment rate and basically half the workforce on JobKeeper payments. Way worse than I ever imagined. And now we are potentially in a trade war to cap it off. I firmly believe though we need to stick to our guns even if it hurts because if we bend over now then that sets a bad precedent. What I really find interesting is that China is trying to kill two birds with one stone by giving a **** you to Australia and would be buying up more US products to meet their demands and to meet the trade obligations that Trump was bashing them for. Then he turns around saying that they could cut off all trade. Seriously WTF is this guy doing? |

They want your pension. They have clubs for the older birds these days.
I'd be more comfortable with that picture though if at least one of them had a tattoo because it is hard to tell really |

Reports are that we have locked support from the EU for an investigation. World Health Assembly this weekend. Momentum is gaining.
It's one thing to claim we are a US lapdog which we are but when others are backing us in is what we need to force the issue. If and when the G8 or G20 countries finally unite they can't run and hide. |

See this article dated 9th May. China have already said they are willing to participate. It will be done by scientists and health officials, not politicians and secret squirrels. This is going to be really inconvenient for some. https://www.smh.com.au/world/asia/ch...09-p54rcz.html

Australia recorded 30 new cases for yesterday, 21 of which were in Victoria. The CMR drops to 1.396% and active cases to 8.3%.
NZ had 1 new case and no deaths so CMR is down to 1.402% and active cases to 4.3%. 3,560 cases in the UK and 384 deaths so the CMR drops to 14.363%. They have stopped reporting active case numbers. Over 27k new cases in the USA and 1,682 deaths sees the CMR up to 5.96% but active cases drop to 72.2%. Another bad day for Brazil with more than 15k new cases yesterday.

I wonder what the 'acceptable' amount of cases is while we look to wind down restrictions. When do they determine the spike is too much?
I guess we will find out but considering we were in the hundreds and now less than 50 is a spike, that is a huge amount of progress. |

I still hark back to mid February when we had a grand total of 5 cases, everything that has happened after that I place blame firmly on the Govt's shoulders.
Got to love the way they can spin that into, 'We have done a good job'. |

Here's a couple of charts we haven't looked at for awhile.
First up, the case mortality rate by continent. Oceania is quite low, while Africa and Asia are similar and Europe is a lot higher. Next the case mortality rate for selected countries. This also ranges from the 0.92% of Russia and the sub 1.5% AU/NZ rates through to the >15% rates of France (15.3%) and Belgium (16.4%). Next, the case rates per 100k of adult population. This ranges from the 38.99 of Australia through to the USA (710) and Spain (709). Next are the deaths per 100k of adult population. Again it's a wide range with Australian and NZ ~0.5 and Belgium at 96.7. The daily new cases shows the upturn for Australia and also some other countries that aren't faring too well:

It's hard to say this crisis will definitely follow that trend; the increase this time was so sudden. Japan shows the opposite, a 20% reduction in April but they've had a decreasing trend for some time. https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...stress-factors |

When i got of the plane at Brisbane Airport 2 weeks ago we were all funnelled through to a checkpoint full of the Police, SES, ADF and ABF, only about half of who were wearing masks. They had a row of tables with about 8 Police officers sitting down checking everyone's paperwork and reasons for travelling, one of the roving SES guys (no mask) came up to me and had a quick look at my paperwork and directed me to one of the seated Police (with mask) the one sitting next to him had no mask as did another one that came up to our desk and asked my cop a question.....
Flight from Darwin to Sydney via Alice no flight crew wore a mask - Flight from Sydney to Brisbane all crew wore masks...... It's obviously a personal thing, and no i didn't...

Maybe We Don't Have It All That Bad ?
It’s a mess out there now. Hard to discern between what’s a real threat and what is just simple panic and hysteria. For a small amount of perspective at this moment, Just imagine you were born in 1900. On your 14th birthday, World War I starts and ends on your 18th birthday. 22 million people perish in that war. Later in the year, a Spanish Flu epidemic hits the planet and runs until your 20th birthday. 50 million people die from it in those two years. Yes, 50 million. On your 29th birthday, the Great Depression begins. Unemployment hits 25%, the World GDP drops 27%. That runs until you are 33. The country nearly collapses along with the world economy. When you turn 39, World War II starts. You aren’t even over the hill yet. And don’t try to catch your breath. On your 41st birthday, the United States is fully pulled into WWII. Between your 39th and 45th birthday, 75 million people perish in the war. Smallpox was epidemic until you were in your 40’s, as it killed 300 million people during your lifetime. At 50, the Korean War starts. 5 million perish. From your birth until you are 55, you dealt with the fear of Polio epidemics each summer. You experience friends and family contracting polio and being paralyzed and/or die. At 55 the Vietnam War begins and doesn’t end for 20 years. 4 million people perish in that conflict. During the Cold War, you lived each day with the fear of nuclear annihilation. On your 62nd birthday, you have the Cuban Missile Crisis, a tipping point in the Cold War. Life on our planet, as we know it, almost ended. When you turn 75, the Vietnam War finally ends. Think of everyone on the planet born in 1900. How did they endure all of that? When you were a kid in 1985 and didn’t think your 85-year-old grandparent understood how hard school was. And how mean that kid in your class was. Yet they survived through everything listed above. Perspective is an amazing art. Refined and enlightening as time goes on. Let’s try and keep things in perspective. Your parents and/or grandparents were called to endure all of the above…….You are called to stay home and sit on your couch!!!

17 new cases for AU yesterday but no deaths so CMR is down to 1.393% and active cases to 8.2%.
No change in NZ except active cases are down to 3.7%. 3,450 new cases and 468 deaths in the UK but CMR drops to 14.351%. Just under 27k new cases and 1,628 deaths in the USA so the CMR rises to 5.963% and active cases drop to 72.0%. The country also passed the 1.5M case mark. Elsewhere: Spain passed 3M completed tests; Australia passed 1M completed tests; Brazil had a slightly better day but still had 14,919 new cases; and North America surpassed 100k deaths.

It would be interesting to look at the morality rates of the world at the moment and not worry about if it was CV19 or not.
That way the true effect can been seen, whether its suicide, CV19, aliments exaggerated by CV19 and plain old figure fudging. A death is a death at the end of the day, so why play games just look at the difference year on year in total and you have a better picture.

Ahh you know what I mean, mortality, so yeah the data on deaths as a whole compared to last year would be of interest. Surely its harder to hide deaths as a total even if you want to play games with how they died.

Have been waiting for a mention of the beef export, barley bullying tactics that have been put on Au, if the US did the right thing they would open there borders to your beef, would solve your problem of getting shot of it and there lack of production due to covid sickness over there. Nz also getting threatened to over our Taiwan stance, time to move on from these people and there cheap wares.
