A lot of people nee to calm down.
Unless your gunna lose your job, home or family because of this decision, who cares?
Coty is an interesting distraction, but .. yeh well you know...
I was happy when Ba then Territory took it out, and Im happy Holden won it instead of an import.
AS far as im concerned, anything that gets punters to buy a locally made car instead of an import is a good thing.

Is the toyota camry/aurion better then VE? I dont think so and neither do Wheels.

IS the BMW better? depends how you define better. If you were a family guy or working guy who needed to carry your tribe and work stuff over long miles, day in day out, without breaking the bank, and needed a car to last 3-5 years, I think the commodore is a better buy.

Ford didnt have anything eligable this year, so good on Holden. I dont think the commodore is as good as it should have been, Im not even sure its much better then the BFII, seems slightly better in some areas, and not so good in others, but it was an obvious decision from wheels.

I love reading posts from holden people who use the thin facade of Ford avitars or user names to deflect immediate attention and "claim" to be Ford people yet bag and degrade the product at every chance...

AS for the resale comment - once again I never said Ford was any better...

no, he's actually correct. that would have to be the most uneducated, thoughtless comment of this entire thread.

the comment both you and he are refering to was regarding a members thoughts on the styling of the VE - seeing as styling is a highly subjective matter I dont see how you can say his comment is stupid and thoughtless just because you disagree?

Ive got a Territory Ghia aswell... not to mention the other 3 Fords ive had in the last 3 years Ps. im not here to put down Ford and i havent, but I will definately Defend the VE as it is a Superior car in many ways. Its a shame some people cant just accept the fact that its a good car for what it is.

I can accept it's better than the old model, but i would never buy one.
Styling is the main, looks just don't do it for me.

Out of all the posts in this thread this is the only mature and level headed one. I agree 100% with it. People just need to accept that the VE won the COTY. If it was (as many have said here) due to the marketing of the VE then Toyota should have won it hands down. God everywhere we turn there is some Toyota ad in our faces saying how much the game has changed with the new Aurion.

I never actually identified anyone in my original post, however i appreciate the fact that you're prepared to identify yourself as fitting the description!

To answer your point i think its far more complicated than simply rolling over and blindly accepting that the VE is a better car than the BF just because its newer or won COTY... FAR more complicated.
As many have pointed out there are plenty of specific examples where quite simply it not better and in fact falls quite short of the mark given its a all new platform against an ageing nearly to be replaced platform.
In any event i think most people take exception to people justifying its "position" by bagging the BF to support their opinions....

You are a Wally, ownership does not the only way to "experience" the glorious VE.

Test drives are one thing, owning a car for an extended period of time is quite different IMO.

Has anyone actually owned a car after test driving it and not changed their opinion of it good or bad?

Again...many, many other ways. You can assume that someone knows nothing, but for all you know they might test and bench mark cars for a living.

Goes both ways.

Yeah but you added a blower to it. :P Of course you would be happy. I'm a little let down but I still love my car. Totally different car though just saying.

Plus you got to factor in cost of ownership which some people don't on a test drive.

[QUOTE=boy02]Ford beat GMH in the sales stakes with the XP & XR, and when ppl think of aussie muscle car they think XY GTHO.......

re:xyphase 3
The following two years would see Moffat come into his own as one of Australia's most dominant race drivers, and the Falcon GTHO as an almost unbeatable car. For 1970, Ford had made significant improvements to the Falcon XW GTHO Phase II over the previous year's model and Moffat, racing without a co-driver, took the car to two crushing victories in the 1970 and 1971 Bathurst races. In 1971 he became the first driver to lead the Bathurst 500 from start to finish while driving the famed Ford Falcon XY GTHO Phase III.

Would that be the wet race that helped less powerfull cars get up front ?
Or was it just the break between XY and XA hardtop domination ?
