Gone down hill again ....... all too try hard and contrived. Gave it 5 minutes and a few add breaks but was back to watching other shows and will wait for the UK version to come back.

Not buying the "Compare with the first episodes of TGUK!" Yes they were ordinary back then but they now know what works and doesn't ..... this doesn't!

I'm seeing a link to Walkinshaw Performance for the first three episodes this year that is becoming concerning..

Episode 1: HSV Clubsport vs Walkinshaw "super" clubby.
Episode 2: HSV R8 Wagon.
Episode 3: Elfin Streamliner MS8...Elfin is owned by Walkinshaw.

Coincidence?

Cool idea for the last Holden Vs Ford episode

Wrote to Top Gear hoping they would listen;

get away from Holden Vs Ford and get to the challenges, it's what most people enjoy.

However, a red vs blue story, my 5c;

THE TWIN SCREW CHALLENGE :

1 x VE with a Harrop M112H
1 x VE with a PWR or Walkinshaw M112H
1 x FG with Yella Terra Whipple
1 x FG with a Blue Power Kenne Bell

- Start with a drag on street tyres at Heathcote
- Refuel and an economy drive to Benalla
- Time trial at Winton

:

tell me this wouldn't get eaten up :

Also i went to the filming of it which may make me enjoy the show a bit more.

Cheers.

i'm getting sick of the general motors product being on every single episode. they are aware there are cars manufactured by other general motors aren't they? i know we have to do what we can to help save it, but we have only 3 manufacturers in Australia left, let ford at least have a plug for a week or 3. show the world more of what the FG has to offer. rant over!

I doubt many would care to be honest. 4 superchargers that 99% of the audience have never heard of. I love the supercharger and even I don't care. :P

Now, if you were to pit supercharged vs turbo charged 8's, then I'd be a little interested.

Does anyone know if the official ratings are representative of the improved sentiment on this forum?

I know the first episode was down but what about the others?

It would be more realistic to use similar capacity superchargers:
1 x VE with a Harrop HTV2300 (we no longer do a M112).
1 x VE with a Walkinshaw HH122-WP (not very fair as the the 122 is only 2000cc).
1 x FG with Yella Terra Whipple
1 x FG with a Blue Power Kenne Bell

I would support & watch that!

Another interesting show. That Elfin looks like a lot of fun, the little one not the silly one with the V8 that even Stig could drive.

And the armoured car was a bit of fun although Clarkson would have used machine guns followed by rocket propelled grenades.

I hope they put the Phase 3 around the track. I will finally answer a LOT of questions and assumptions that have abounded over the years.

A bit disappointed with tonight's episode. Didn't hold my interest. It was a single car test (Elfin) and a load of other stuff designed to keep your partners and mothers interested. I think the show could manage with only the cartoonist and the driving instructor... the trumpet player doesn't seem to add much.

I suspect one of the many owners who would like a bit of publicity.

Lots of old school cars get driven hard on tracks, many far rarer and more valuable than a Phase 3.

Harry Christian (owner of Australian msucle car Sales) has given use of his XY GT Phase 3. I think it will be shown on the 29th June 2009

Nah, keep the trumpet player and get rid of the driving instructor (Steve Pizzatti). He is far too contrived, over the top and scripted; he tries too hard.

Don't forget Elfin is owned by HSV, but at least they mentioned Falcon this week.

What happened to the news segment? You think they might have discussed what's going on with GM overseas. Although having said that I'm sure it'll be raised with their "how brilliant is the Aussie G8 story".

About time they showed a classic Ford commercial this time, I was about to think they only like Holden and Chrysler. They also pointed out that wired part that quickly shows the Escort parked beside a man lying beside it with a sign that says "Tom Wittingslow" above before the Ferris wheel cage blocks it out. I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that.

But wasn't quite right is that the ad's audio was out of sync. It obviously came from a tape with a collection of old Ford ads. At the end you can hear the beginning of an XW Falcon ad. Couldn't they find another copy of it? used:

yeah im sorta getting sick of seeing all holden based cars every episode....dont know when they'll take the f6 or xr6t around the track....what are they waiting for? or are they scared that if the f6 is quicker then they'll lose holden fans lol....

I tried to watch this week's episode but turned it off after about 20mins or so as it was irritating me. I'm tired of the crap they go on about. There is a lot of Holden/Holden connected stuff on it and they just do stupid things (electric mobility cart race) as well as getting quite a few facts wrong. The armoured car thing was stupid, as was the ute thing a few weeks ago. As soon as the Elfin story came on and he mentioned the 5.7L V8 from the crappadore, I just tuned out.
I don't think anyone does research before they give the presenters their script. That cartoonist is painful. They need people who are really into cars and actually know what they're on about.

That's all I'll say. I won't be tuning in again. I'd rather watch the Russian version (which makes the Aussie one look very amateur) or wait till the UK one is back on.
End of :

Oh and I saw the Top Gear Live show down in Sydney a few months back - was good, except for the Aus host that was there - rubbish... They had Tiff Needel do it in London, was good....watched them crash quite a few cars on stage!
