If they don't put auto up/down windows in the update then someone at PD needs to be shot. Christ the povvo pack fleet Corollas at work have this.

Infiltration of some of the US and Euro tech currently available in Fords over there would be good too. Perhaps a bit more visual muscle for the XR6 Turbo.

The stuff I would like to see can be implemented in software mainly.

Auto Up/Down for all windows and switches.
Global open/close.
Disable muting of audio when in reverse. I can customise the ICC behaviour such that I can disable something so insignificant as the little walking animation the A/C man does, but I can't elect to not have my audio muted when I shift to reverse.
Otherwise, pause iPod/CD when in reverse.
Dark mode - all interior lighting and displays off except for vehicle speed, either digital or dial (and of course warning/alarms should any arise).
Audio notification when DSC corrects your wrong-doings. Currently it's just a little light flickering on the dash.
Headlights remain on after vehicle lock by option. Currently the follow-home lighting switches off when you lock the car. I would like to lock my car for security purposes, but still use its light to get indoors. Maybe push lock again to switch off.

Features require hardware:

Bluetooth audio (as seen in Ford Sync).
Deadlocking - as seen in the Focus.
Cabin motion sensing alarm - I currently have the alarm and it doesn't seem to servce much purpose.
Smart key (RFID) - keep key in pocket when driving. Open doors without unlocking, etc.
Digital radio.

On The Simpsons, after visiting the toy store (to spend their inheritance, bestowed upon them by Grandpa), Homer is driving home and a little oven goes, 'ding'.

He pulls out a muffin and butters it while driving.

I would love an easy-bake oven in the car. On a long trip, tucking into a muffin would be just great.

(Would be great, but I'm not totally serious!)

With respect to windows.

Hold unlock on remote: doors unlock and all windows open fully.
Hold lock on remote: doors lock and all windows return to the closed position.

That is RK9D, the remote canine decapitation feature.

Sounds somewhat dangerous for kids too.

Thats probably the 5th time someone has said something like this, The windows will stop and return to open in case of obstruction (They do in our X5). At worst any dog or child would get is a fright.

Qwerty keyboard pops out from somewhere in the steering wheel, and instrument cluster, being fully LCD/digital/whatever, would double up as computer screen, incorporating all the usual software tools.

Think about that for a second! You can steer your car with the arrow buttons. Shift D for drift, Shift L for launch. Page Up/Down for gearshifts. CTRL-ALT-UP if you want your car to flip over.

Yeah yeah yeah.... Microsoft already had a crack at the car market, where they failed though was that their cars kept crashing.

There were cars made using only linux as the engine management software.
Very good cars but there were no bloody "DRIVERS" for them.

a new program " I want half MoFo" will instantly spawn!

and somehow it takes the "Children.exe" process with it...

Is moving your finger an inch to turn the stereo down too much effort?

As for audio notification when DSC activates, that sucks, thats what Toyota do and it does nothing but annoy the crap out of people. Cars need less annoying beeping, not more. If you can't notice a flashing light on the dash then you seriously need to put the keys down and buy a push bike.

slightly off topic...but....while not a feature, a vastly improved rust PREVENTION system (hot dip??) and better painting of the metal.. before they go down the line to get the extra goodies fitted, would be a start. But of course, Falcons dont rust, do they.......(waits for it ....)

Gidday folks,

how about volume controls on the RHS of the stereo? I'm sick of having to reach across the car to adjust volume.

And a decent AC.

Cheers.

So what's wrong with the volume controls on the steering wheel?

I doubt you will ever get that, on safety reasons alone. Typically when I reverse, I have the radio off and crack the drivers window open a bit, so if I hit something (or someone) or someone yells a warning to me I can stop. Visibility out the back of todays cars is very poor and I think you need all your senses to be safe. The radio can wait a few minutes till I am on the road.

DREAMING : OFF

probably never happen, but look into it, it seems to be the way euro cars are heading, have a "road mode" and a "track mode" three presets that are set from factory but can be adjusted be nice just dont go all "Playstation" like a GT-R

Are you MAD?
I'm a gamer with the PC and the best thing i did was to get a steering wheel for the computer. Driving with a keyboard sucks. i should know.

How about an XBOX controller slot just near the stereo for driving the car then?

Man that would be cool...

Most good seats these days come with heated and cooled seats. Althought I don't see the need for heated seats, The AC on warm will warm you up alot better.

Look at a current 2010 Merc S class, in another 10 years or so expensive fords will have most of these features probably.

I know it has been somewhat mentioned, but I'd LOVE to see new gen Falcons with projector globes running Xenon headlights, and a mixture of LED driving lights, but not a blatant copy of Mercedes or HSV or AUDI, something original.
I imagine Ford designs in my head with projector globes, if only I knew how to draw them out ;(

Front parking sensors...for years now cars have been getting longer and lower at the front, and it becomes a real pain that you can know exactly where the tail of your car is, but have to guess at the front.

Not to mention maybe one or two small sensors on the passenger side to show how far from the kerb you are...there's certainly room on the screen to show where the car is from objects to the side and front...and who hasn't made a mistake with being just that little bit close to a kerb and dinging the mags? I mean, last time I did it was in a VK Calais we owned with 15" (wow!) factory mags...our new G6E has 19's...and I'm even more paranoid about kerbing them...

As for the "heated seats" idea and whether we'd actually need them in Australia...in the years before air conditioning became almost standard fitment to even the cheapest and nastiest cars, it used to be jokingly said that Australian car makers showed thier knowledge of our climate by making extremely good heaters standard, yet air conditioners were optional...

My vote all wheel steering, seems like a logical choice when roads and parking bays seem to be getting narrower. just an observation
