Dunno, my Lancer lasted 4 years, only started alarming a day out from the end of a 4 year lease. Could come down to the unpredictable life of a battery.

I have found that if I have my garage remote (which also contains the keyfob to my missus car) in the same pocket as the key fob, or I have just locked the car (within about 15sec), the car wont unlock by hand

Yeah i dunno, in my old XR5 the battery lasted about 6mths and it never had passive entry either.
Seems hit and miss, it doesnt happen all the time though. I might just replace it anyway.

My ST is 9 months old and I'm noticing the remote isn't always recognised when I rich the door handle.. Probably low battery too

Do these new remotes broadcast all the time rather than just when you press a button because that may explain the short battery life.

Pretty sure they would be smart enough to "activate" when in proximity. A sesnsible design would use the larger and rechargeable car battery where possible. And we know Ford always does the sensible thing....right?

The battery in the remote is a $3 part. At least they aren't an integrated complete key fob replacement at several hundred dollars like some other cars out there.
I don't really think it's a huge deal..

Could be interference, wireless technology is prone to interference from many factors, I would bet if you didn't replace it would keep on performing in an adhoc manner as you have described

Depending on what fuel you use may cause it to be more noticable as well. Ive noticed with mine that V-Power tends to soot the rear of the car up quicker then Vortex 98 or BP Ultimate, i presume its because of the different additive packs found in each fuel.

I've gone back to BP 95 and haven't noticed any smoke since.. Plus it's cheaper... Not much drop in performance

Ive stuck with Vortex 98 for quite sometime, was BP Ultimate before that but with 10% off Caltex I couldn't pass that up, basically makes the 98 the same price as e10, plus I'm tuned for 98....

How cool are the headlight washer jets that pop out? The more I find out about the little FoST the more I love it

Huh? I have the Focus ST and I don't have headlight washers. Are you sure you're referring to the Focus ST here?

I,m not 100% certain, but I think the headlight washers only work when you have the headlights on, I have found that every time I wash the windscreen when the lights are on the headlight washers activate aswell

Well it finally happened today :( Evilst got rear ended :( not much damage few scratches and some dents in the bumper so it's off on Wednesday to the panel beaters to get assessed... Think the P plater behind me learnt a valuable lesson don't take your eyes off the road just cos the light goes green doesn't mean every takes off straight away..

Anyways, had a look around and through this thread, chasing up some better floor mats for the ST, would love a rubber drivers side one, or at minimum one that comes up behind the pedals and covers the foot rest, the carpet is getting trashed from my work boots. I do notice the US get some pretty nice ones which from a quick eyeball will fit on the drivers side, but passenger side is pretty different. |
