Holy cow, just watch the news and there is flash flooding everywhere in the south east.
In the middle of Toowoomba there was torrent of flood water where cars were being pushed into trees etc like little toys... the footage was truely scarey.

In the middle there was a cop standing in the water watching the cars go past just in case people were trapped. 2 people have so far died there.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2...10/3109846.htm

There is a video on that page for those that didnt see it on the news...
Gatton, Dalby, Gympie and Toowoomba have been badly hit by flash flooding today

When I first saw that clip I thought, meh, it's just a wheelie- bin, but it's a CAR!

I have no words right now for the situation in Toowoomba. I have never seen anything like this ever.

I like the disclaimer. "ABC News Online is not responsible for this material and cannot verify its authenticity or endorse the opinions presented."

I guess they can't endorse the opinion of the voice on the footage when he says "Oh ****"

Too true mate, I was absolutely stunned when I saw the news tonight.
I have spent most of my life in or around Toowoomba and cannot believe it still!! Now the poor bastards in the Lockyer Valley have been hit hard. More rain to come, wonder where it's going to end.

Thoughts to all those affected.......

much the same here.. my thoughts are with all of those that have lost their homes, belongings, cars and the ones that have been hurt...

I hope everyone after this can get back to a good life... this decade is already off to a bad start..

unbelievable.

i missed the news tonight and my tv reception is crap anyway. but i just turned the computer on and seen some headlines / links on the google homepage about toowoomba flooding so thought i would take a look.WOW .... what a shock.

never seen anything like that in australia before.

the work that the emergency crews are doing is incredible too.

floods seem to be systematicly working their way over the whole of qld. soon there will be nothing left.

just over a year ago the state was like a desert with no rain at all for 7 months or more and i was wishing that i lived somewhere near a big river.
now i feel that i am one of the lucky few that dosnt need to worry about getting washed out. i am certainly not going to complain about my boggy driveway and waterlogged yard after seeing what the rest of the state is going through.

here is a link to the abc photo page.

Luckily, im on top of a hill. But i have a view of the lockyer valley being slowly turned into a lake. I sincerely hope the low lying areas dont cop it like they say.

I thought Toowoomba was on the top of a hill too, for Christs' sake.I don't recall it being this bad in 74!!
Good luck to all who haven't been affected, and my best wishes(and paltry donation) to all who have.

In essence it is, but as you come up the range it then drops down pretty low two times. The first is behind the CBD, the second is pretty much where the CBD is located. The size of Toowoomba, plus the size of these catchments/gullies makes these two areas in particular very dangerous in times like these.

I was not in the CBD when the flood waters came up, but many friends were. People who have lived here all their lives, some over 80 years, have never seen anything like it. And they're saying another 200mm tonight and tomorrow?! I was one of many that had a look at the devastation, simply shocking.

My thoughts go out to anyone in Toowoomba who has been effected by this flash flood. As a community, we will put our town back together. In fact, all of QLD, we're a tough bunch and we'll come out of this much wiser.

For anyone interested, here are the photos I took of what's left of the centre of Toowoomba. Thankfully, as the majority of Toowoomba is high, most of the town was spared from any major flooding. You don't need Facebook to look at these either

I thought it hid the comments when you shared pictures? My bad. Yeah, I work in sales, does it show haha?

Your eyes serve you well. Door skins and roof torn off. All makes sence when you look at the videos others have posted up. Was bloody powerful.

Must be Townsvilles turn to flood? Just woke up and the back room has 3 inches of water (only room at ground level, rest of house on 3foot posts). Water is just level with the shed floor..... sleepless nite me thinks...

Im on a hill so no flooding to worry me like that, but I woke up an hour or so ago, sounded like a battalion was marching over the roof.

Just seeing on morning news that the beauro of Meteorolgy have issued a severe flood warning for the south east of the state. Flash flooding is expected within the next few hours as a giant storm front is approaching.....

@jimgoose,much as you and I disagree ......stay safe sport.I hope Townsville doesn't get it like the rest of the SE Qld is.

My thoughts and prayers are with all who have been so badly affected.

To everybody who is in the affected areas if you don't need to be out and about please stay home and let the Emergency workers get a free run to do their job.
Stay safe all in affected areas.
