My opinion was that the golf just wouldnt even be in the same class.

Also im sure the lancer has the wood over the wrx comfortably therefore id say the RS would too.

Also whats the price diffs between the respective models?

So any thoughts on these respective speeds and prices.....

ohh yeah i also just watched another top gear vid and you can count the wrx out...a honda inegra type r beat it by a sec and the focus rs beat that by another 5...thres that one sorted...kinda lol

Okay, would definately get one in green.

I would love to buy one but i doubt the bank would even glance at the application form.

So i must conceed, all i wish for once this car is released is a "spritited" passenger ride in one and a photo taken with myself beeing in the picture infront of the car and in the drivers seat....if i manage to get that, ill be a happy camper for the rest of my life...

hopefully i wonder if i can import a MK1 FRS (personal fav) now that ford got this one in here?

5% Import Duty takes that to $47,250.
Lets say $2,850 in shipping (because i'm guessing and its a nice round number).
Lets now add 10% GST. $55,000.

Shipping is probably more then my guess, plus transport to dealers in Australia, any ADR certifications required, etc.

A RSOC member has a FRS Mk 1 arriving here very soon from the UK. He owned it in the UK for a few years though. You can not import a Mk 1 FRS unless you have owned it in the UK.

Coolio,

yep i know that you cant normally import it due to ADR regulations and import laws. But i wonder now that FOMOCO has introduced the FRS to AUS as an actual line weather this means that the imporation may be alot easier.

An example of what i mean is the Skylines. i know the R33 and R34 where never sold in AUS but they where still imported and sold by vendors, due to a prior version beeing already sold in AUS.....catch my meaning?

now i am most likely wrong but i think its an intruiging idea that deserves a good think about cause it might be possible yeah?

anyway back on topic,

i love the FRS for what it stands for and what its capable of doing.

you can import a mk1 frs the only problem is that you would have to complete all the adr compliencing yourself and then you would be the complience plate license holder. The First one you would comply would cost between 15-20,000 as you would have to do all the emission testing, safety certificates for seatbelts etc

The way this car would relate to hatches either 2 or 4 doors and any drive are:

Performance level 1:
WRX, Lancer Rallisport, Megan 225, MPS, HSV VXR, XR5, Golf Gti and even R32 (older version), plus the 130i and A3 turbo

Level 2:
WRX STi, Evo, Megan 225 Cup, Focus RS, Audi S3, Golf R

Level 3:
WRX STi Club spec, MR edition Evo, Audi RS3 and for the lucky 500 in europe the Focus RS500

Value wise its on par and performance and handling wise would be on par too. But the fact that you know its a RS when you see one is the key. The rest of the cars in the category look like normal performance versions.

For $60k+, I don't see the value considering the AWD alternatives for much the same money.

This is the exact comment that the motoring press in Europe went on about UNTIL THEY DROVE THE THING.

They found the car was a better drivers car that its AWD competition and went around corners better. This car will not be thrashed on dirt roads here and in it's revoknuckle format is also more economical than cranking 4 wheels
aaround all day.
I guess best to line up and beg for a test drive if you have any doubts!

Dealers should know their allocation by today. It looks like the Sunshine Coast will get 3. I am working on colours as we speak!

The cars are not sold out yet. The dealers are taking orders now.
A mate of mine put his order in yesterday and has it confirmed. Colour is the only issue at the moment.

hhhmmm interesting...what dealer was that? We are guessing the green ones that make up 50% of the allocation will sell out first, followed by white and due to the blue being not so popular due to the mk 1 RS Focus all being blue may be last to sell???? All guess work though. Time will tell.

Only difference between the RS and a similar powered AWD say Evo MR 360hp would be, take off acceleration due to the limit of FWD, but in a corner the RS would be just as quick but you'll need to be a better driver to get it there.

FWD compared to AWD are just less idiot proof, idiot is harsh word but hard to explain its eitherwise.

Example the 07' MPS generates more G's in a corner then a WRX.

Aussie spec also comes complete with the European Luxury Packs 1 and 2 as standard, plus the leather trim standard included in the price. Euro Focus RS doesn't include all that as standard so your price might not be directly comparable.

i wonder how long it will stay a limited run.. if they sell fast i wouldnt be surprised if not long after they become available all the time?

for nearly 70k driveaway im thinking an fg s/c coyote is better value being a more practical car, but thats my opinion.

if it was in the low 50's i would trade my g6t for one now even though the RS would still be slower in a straight line im sure it gives more of a buzz.

Australia is receiving the last of the RS Focus's. The production line is closed on this car. Ford Europe are tooling for the next gen Focus and maybe a Fiesta RS too. A lot will hinge on how this RS will sell. Back in 1979 to 1981, they had no trouble moving the remaining Escorts with the intro of the RS2000.
