All the usual bolt ons , tune and diff gears and you have a 12 second street car all day. In todays terms thats pretty "slow". But as a tuff / fun and subjectively best looking modern day V8 or GT....you cant go wrong with the B series. They still have that rawness and take by the scruff of the neck attitude of the older GTs.
Add to that the fact they were screwed together by FPV...not ford ...and they are still a very special aussie V8.

They have a big heavy lump up front....so no they dont handle well. They struggle with the standard suspension. They are a heavy car and you can feel it.
They need aftermarket stuff to sort it out.

I have only 1 problem.

I have an omega wagon, that has some decent tech in it. Blue tooth, touch screen etc.

When I get my BA GT, I feel like I have take a step back. It does feel old.

Still love driving it, mine is stock and has some nice power, just feels old when I first get in it.

If you can find one at a price your happy to pay, go for it. Still nice looking car, has a great V8 sound.

They pitch and roll and slide on demand (and stay sideways too if you want), what more could you ask for?

Go look inside a late model HSV.

Then try getting back into pretty much any FPV.

Ouch.

That was my plan but fate stepped in and i came across the Pearl Blue one i bought, hadnt seen one before (havent seen another since) and just fell in love with the colour, not having a lot of spare cash the fact it had BBS rims and the exhaust done tipped the scales and i bought it even though it was an auto, love the thing to bits and though a bad habit i get attached to my cars so wouldnt swap the thing for a manual even if i could, sad but true Gotta love what you drive.

These cars are heavy. They are PORKY.
I remember my first drive of my BFGT after owning my XE ESP and thinking...bloody hell , it feels like a tank.
One can only imagine what they could have been as a package with 150 kg less lard.
An alloy block , bonnet and boot lid . Some lighter wheels and better rear end gearing from the factory. Wow !

First thing to do if its a auto. Make sure it has a trans cooler. If it does not have a trans cooler get one installed.

Cost to repair or replace with second transmission from a common fault is around 2 to 2.5k. $200 bucks for trans cooler to be installed will save you problems down the track.

Default Re: BA GT thoughts?

I'm a very proud Typhoon owner, love the car to bits, and not a single thing I would have wanted Ford to have changed on it from factory.

BUT a BAII GTP manual almost swayed me when I was looking at a used Typhoon. It just had that little extra that I can't get in a Typhoon, mainly those gorgeous seats (no, the extra 2 cylinders are not on that desirable short list FOR ME)!

Personally, if you HAVE to ask if you should buy it, you may be missing the point of these cars! No one buys a GT/F6 because they SHOULD, its because we WANT them. Its a raw desire thing! If the BA GT gets you all excited and makes you all warm and fuzzy, why ask if you SHOULD get it over a BF or FG or whatever? There are enough reasons to buy, and on the flip there are equally enough reasons NOT to buy!

I went Typhoon, because I LOVE the I6T, love the look of the BF F6, and the MKII had all the little detail highlights that the others didn't get like the chrome strips on the vents etc. I have the foams for the GTP seats in storage and when I'm ready will re-trim the whole leather interior to what I want keeping the car true to its original factory philosophy.

So enlighten us with your knowledge of this ****truck motor. Was it a crate motor from the US? Was it removed from Louisvilles and fitted to cars? Was it available as diesel? I don't understand why a typhoon would be relevant in a BAGT thread as far as I know there has never been a 6cyl GT.

you do the right mods they move just fine ,..sound unreal as well !

I did diff gears, full exhaust , twin throttle body , cold air & tune on my BF Cobra ,it screamed ,..just over 300kw at the rears ,not that much slower than a stock SC 5.0L ,..and unlike the SC you can actually get the power down hard

Ive never had an LS1 powered vehicle but I had a cammed LS2 and the current LS3 and both sound fantastic. The cammed one is on par with the Clevo IMO..

Unless the Ls1s were different..

The ls1 is only good for 2 things. Sounding cool and anchoring boats. Anything more than that, get ls2 or lsa
