Even when things are supposed to settle, you can bet your leftie the price will still remain perilously close to the $1 mark. Once the public are used to paying around that price for a period of time, there is no way they will drop it by anywhere near as much as it has risen. Just watch!!

Hmmm.... I ran a late model AU LPG ute here in the UK for a good few years, pump prices are circa £0.75 at the moment, so in your money that's $1.37 per litre! Undoubtedly tax influenced, it's a whopper of a price. Super Unleaded is circa £1.40 ($2.56) per litre. Time to invest in a bicycle!

A 'not worth converting' attitude will end up with a 'not worth supplying' one also......simply inevitable.

But the reason to convert to gas is to save money ryeman. Why would you convert your car and use it when the cost isn't justified? This is at no fault of the consumer but the supplier. Personally, I am just looking to do right by my back pocket. Sell gas at a reasonable price and I will purchase a straight gas Falcon.

The 'excessive' choice of constantly changing, compact and more fuel efficient niche vehicles will see the fold of new car conversions. Once the last of the old Foldens is converted it'll be all over. And that's assuming LPG price reverts to what was normal. The countdown has begun I'm afraid.

I don't know about you, but I see more "used" cars converted than new and more Nissans and Toyotas (vans, 4wds etc) on LPG. I highly doubt the low sales of new LPG Falcon/Commodores will have a massive impact when both models cease production.

What's happening now is no indication of the 5-10year future.

Mate I just sent 'Michael Carmody' the head of Gas Energy Australia an email a few hours ago asking him to do something?
Got absolutely nothing back yet. As Ryeman has said a taxi co in Melbourne has just recently gonbe under because of rising running costs. Michael Carmody needs to do something......ANYTHING!!!!!! The main factor contributing to LPG prices is the Saudi Aramco price.....70% of EVERY litre sold goes to paying the Saudi's. BLOODY WRONG!!!!!!!!!!! Last edited by GASWAGON; 13-01-2014 at 03:39 PM. |

The extraction industry gets the 'benchmark' price not Saudis.
Like the LME sets copper benchmark price, but London doesn't get it. It a trading exchange, that's all.

Have now noticed the cab depot I used to work for has an increasing number of Hybrid Camrys, but that could also be down to BF/FG Falcons having too many reliability issues as we all know from here. The Avalons outperformed the Falcon cabs 8-9 years ago during a short stint.
Even at 89.9, LPG is barely worthwhile. Curious to see what the "low point" will be this year, but it's sadly not worth it anymore thanks to greed.

Resale value seems higher for "Toyota", but I'm curious how much they're saving in fuel costs. Let's hope this petition goes somewhere!

From what I've heard and read, the Hybrids blow the Falcon out of the water for running costs, especially if the taxi spends most of its time completing stop/start city driving. |

You wouldn't want a second life as a taxi starter motor that's for sure!
