Must have done your heart proud to see your girl take such care of something you've given her. Now if all teenagers could show such gratitude and care; that would be something indeed.

Last year, we had a bike ride at school for the Year 7's. My neighbour donated a bike their kids had grown out of. Bike was in good nick, I fixed it up a little though and they told me to give it away to a kid who needed it.

I knew of a kid whose pushy had been stolen the previous year, whose folks still hadn't replaced his bike. I offered it to him; should have seen his face. It's not like your story though. No thanks, was the reply. The kid would rather put his folks out for a drive to school than ride a pushy that's not the latest and greatest.

Pretty sad really.

I think he's still without a bike, another year later!
