So we got a bit sidetracked I think. The theme of a Harley F-Series is incidental - it's the end product that matters. Here's some pics of an 06 F350 Harley which is a very nice machine and has an extra bit of class and image versus a Lariat. Also better resale just like a King Ranch.

I'm waiting for the new F-Series with the 6.4 and know a business case went up to Ford management - don't know the result. However, the Brazil 'converted before they got to Australia' trucks aren't what these are about. The USA trucks kill Brazil for quality - if in doubt look at the paint.

If you REALLY want an F-Series the VDC product is superb for converted gear but of course exxy at circa AUD140k++ I would personally jump at one of these but my employer won't allow it on a novated lease. Jack it up four inches, big tyres, Banks Engineering gear, and hi there 12 second quarters plus towing ability to the wazoo.

(Oh, I tried to see if an F650 could be brought in but ask the boss of Tyco Oz what that's like... (apparently he has one but it takes a year or two)

I think that most people are missing the point here. Why did Ford and HD get together in the first place? Answer, how many times have you seen a bunch bikers cruising around on their HOG's with an F100 in tow. What was the F100 doing? Picking up the Harleys that have broken down.

Now, some people may take offence, for that I apologise. However, HD's have never been seen as relaible pieces of equipment, more of what was stated above. That is, a 'lifestyle' and 'image' that you wish to portray.

No, you can't compare Jap bikes (Super/Hyper sports) to the HD's but you can compare the Jap Cruiser's though (joke later). However, this is not on topic.

Each time I see one of these HD F150's, it screams HD un-reliability. Now, how many others think the same thing? Put more simply, would Ford Australia want to link themselves to a company known for un-reliability????????

Now for the joke:
Why is it that the Japanese motorcylce manufacturers could not successfully imitate the Harley Davidsons?



They couldn't replicate the breakdowns, oil leaks, rattles and shakes. (sorry if I have offended the HD gang).

Paull, I agree with everything you've said 1 000 000%. Very very unreliable and yes always a pick-up to "pick-up the break downs".

I'd also like the person who brought up that piece of crap purpose built drag V-Rod to take a look at the latest copy of motorcycle trader to see exactly how slow that bike is. It runs 11's, a high 10 if you are lucky and it is not legal to register nor good for anything other than drag racing. $50,000 for a purpose built drag bike that cannot run consistenly in the 10s, what a joke!

The point is, only the people who like Harley's (which in my opinion are the people who have never been on a fast bike or have no interest in going fast) will want to buy a car associated with them, for the rest, we'll just laugh at how the F-150 Harley version is quicker than most Harley motorcycles.

Yes, high 10's might be fast for a car, but they aren't anything special for bikes these days.
