Thanks.

So same quality but possibly different additives/cleaning agents?

I normally buy my fuel from Gingers which is a big truck stop heading out north of perth. The place has a very high turnover.
Living in the bush, you get worried about how long the fuel has been sitting in the tanks. A lot of servos don't even stock 98 out here.

Same octane rating! Quality is quite a subjective term.

The fuel is the same. The additives are usually detergents. Depending on product. All the color dye has been removed now. All the fuel is a yellow or straw color.

I've got a car sitting in the garage. Left it with 3/4 tank of 98 when parked 2 years ago.

Pushed it out, checked fluids and added octane boost to tank. Did this as I read how quick fuel 'goes off'.

Jumped her, started on second crank and ran as good as when I parked it.

Drove to servo, put air as tyres were half flat and topped the tank to the brim with fresh 98.

I think fuels last MUCH longer than the companies let on.

The only issue I encountered was the hum / vibration from the flat spots on the tyres but that sorted it self out after an hr run on the freeway.

If you read some of the rubbish re fuel shelf life I should have drained the tank and flushed the lines.

The octane boost was prob useless as well.

BP Diesel Ultimate is only 2cl more than standard diesel. So, why is 98 22c's more???? Sell more..more profit..

Ultimate diesel is just plain diesel with a different additive , interestingly it stops the diesel from frothing

It is cleaner. As it goes through an extra filtration process. Less parts per million of particulates. It also has anti frothing agent. (Detergent).
