it seems to me the the au 6 is a little bit hindered by having a good power and torque figure out of the box, however the things that give it good spread of torque and power also make it harder to extract big power unless it`s forced induction, air speed into the cylander (cylander filling) may be comprimised by the variable intake manifold, i would love to see and old style manifold (no butterfly`s) with a shorter and more direct air intake, dual throttle bodies and a slightly more agressive cam and tune, i reckon this would make it get up and bark, only my theory .......ok pick me to pieces now :

A horizontaly opposed motor is very different to our inline motor. Sorry but I can't see the comparison.

I think that my last posts concedes that i didnt know that the flat6 was infact a boxer engine and not an I6.....sorry for any confusion

Maybe the comparison is they strap big turbo;s to them and make them go really fast

Stav - yeah as i said i've only played with the 8's so i figure'd the 6's would use a different load setting having a tmap after all.
