Yeah your right there are still a lot of larger cars out there but that's such a smaller percentage when looked at the 22mill plus people in this country look in 1997 ford set sales records on the el no car in Australian history has come close to matching them figures......... Why is this fuel the cost of a new falcon and CHANGE. As I said early if the government dropped the tax on parts made for manufacturing cars could be reduced 33% is rrp then they would sell but the government don't see a need to support the two Aussie manufactures any more.

That is absolutely correct.

And there is still the unanswered question about S550/next generation Mustang and how it will "relate" to the Falcon going forward.

Food for thought - the Ford Asia Pacific and Africa team, based in Australia, work on not just regional projects. Let's not forget that there are global programs in amongst it too. Whether it be the whole vehicle, or particular systems, etc. And let's not forget benchmarking, etc.

While they have had at least 1 current-ish Taurus in Australia for some time, maybe it has something to do with future D-car model development? Why does a D-car running around, have to relate back to an E-car?

But what would I know...

It does have some positives but quite a few large negatives too, no manual for starters and it weighs a ton (sorry 2 ton).

There was a white current model Ford Taurus with a LHD sticker parked in Main St Mornington this morning. I had to double take and drive around the block to check it out.

I had one for a while ... it was quiet, comfortable and a nice drive. Bit odd to look at however.

It's funny that those with the strongest views against the Taurus here know very little about them. it's almost like they believe the '96 model was the only model ever made.

Ford will bring in Mustang and probably Explorer. There more than likely will be no form of replacement for Falcon. Definately no Taurus.

I'd say Mondeo would fill that gap now. It's about the same size.

Ford has clearly identified a shift towards small-medium cars, so Mondeo may well be their largest offering into the future.

One bad thing about all this is as history has shown when a manufacture packs up it can either make prices plummet or increase for those all ready owning second hand falcons.

Is interesting the that they aloud the 2014 funding to go ahead, with the closure in mind...

Seems like a huge waste of money to create new stampings for a new front and rear end for only 3 years...

Probably better to end than to crawl along in some lame format.

Looking at the timetable, it's only two years,

Could the the stampings be slight variations on the existing ones?
Could most of the changed look be due to new front clip, head lights and tail lights extending into the boot like VF?.

They are currently evaluating a 4wd wagon based on the ranger. Think Territory body on ranger chassis.

The Ranger seven seater is on sale now in some markets, Everest or something. Out here I think they will call a new vehicle Endevour.

I hope the Mondeo won't be the Falcon replacement, as I had a Titanium wagon on order, saw it (looked great), but once we knew twins were on the way, I couldn't fit three full size child seats across the back, so I upgraded to a diesel Territory. I would have been very happy in that Mondeo, but I have no regrets about the Territory.

The Taurus would most likely fit three.

Seen a thread here a while back about about some GT shelby that was featured on Top Gear. Base Model Sells in the States for 56,000? About the same time there was talk of the new Supercharged Holden.

Forgive me if i`m way off the mark, cbf reading all the posts and actually basing my theory on facts.
