In know where the OP is coming from.

It is funny the different looks I get when I drive my runaround car(1993 Hyundai Excel) to when I am in the G6ET.

When I am in the Hyundai people do look down on why as being a lower standing than them.
But that's their problem as I couldn't give a toss. I does it's purpose and that's all I care about and what all people should be like.

It is your car and what YOU wanted, what anyone else thinks just shouldn't matter.

Oh and glavas, your an idiot. And easy to see why you drive what you do.

I own an EA and I reckon it's a fantastic car. It does annoy me when people constantly bag them out, half the time these people haven't even driven one. I'll never sell it, simple as that. I've driven newer cars, and while they've been smoother and quieter, the EA just has more character. It's great fun to drive, and surprises a hell of a lot of people

More than the FPV actually. What gets me is Ford sticks with the dinosaur live axle on the grounds its supposedly better for weight in the back yet the commodore gets IRS and can carry more :

my apologies friend. i withdraw my comment and hope that i haven't offended you in anyway. im sure the Malaysian proton jumbuck is one fine auto mobile. add power to the rear wheels and a LSX engine and im sure it would make for a fine sleeper! or even just turbo the existing motor.

Aslong as you look after, and cherish your car it shouldn't matter what type of car it is.

My VL is just a non-turbo, but I still do my best to look after it. As corny as this may sound I actually have an emotional bond with it. It's a car I really value, and I don't know what I would do if anything happened to it.

Even if I bought a later model car I wouldn't look down upon someone else's car if it was a lower spec. Just seems that some people are born as snobs, and don't know any different unfortunately.

Well, the guys in Malaysia used to swap the stock engine out for a unit from an EVO 4 - 7 and run it in a 2WD configuration. Add a larger turbo and re-chip the ECU and you have one hell of a sleeper ute. Don't think it can be done here else it'll be a huge embarrassment for your ute in a drag race.

Getting off topic here so I better stop.

Oh I miss my EA Fairmont People would always give me crap for spending hours on end cleaning/detailing it, but I just thought FU. Cleaning my car helps me relax after a long week at work and theres nothing better then taking your freshly cleaned car for run!

My .02 cents worth, move on and don't let it worry you, your mate is living up to his cars title Grand Turkey, remove the badges and the striping and what have you really got - a souped up XR8 with a few extras - big deal : I'd be looking for some new "real" friends because this guy obviously isn't one.

By the way even Toyota don't respect the Prius :

In regards to the OP, ignore the silly bugger. After all he's just another link in the chain, just ask, say, a Porsche owner. But I agree with some posts here, not really much of a friend.
